new tunes tuesday takes a vacation

It's just a quick two week respite for our weekly day-long deluge of new music (I think it's run off to the beach; something about a great deal on a hotel). New Tunes Tuesday will return on August 19th. Until then, we'll continue to keep adding new music to our playlists, just like always. To that end, the Future of Rock & Roll never takes a break!

presents jukebox the ghost in chicago

WOXY faves Jukebox The Ghost hit Schuba's in Chicago on Thursday, August 14th for a 9PM show with guests sundayrunners and Butterfly Assassins.



Jukebox's self-titled debut EP landed at at #51 on the 97 Best of 2007, and are touring in support of their debut full-length Let Live & Let Ghosts. sundayrunners and Butterfly Assassins, both Chicago bands, are no stranger to WOXY listeners. Both have recorded Lounge Act sessions and are supporting new full-length releases.

Tickets are only $8 in advance and can be purchased online here. Admission is 21+.

Every Wednesday at 6p, we turn things over to our friends at London's Artrocker magazine for 90 minutes of some of the latest music buzzing in the UK underground. Your host, Paul Artrocker, co-founded the legendary Too Pure label, so he knows a thing or two about discovering new talent.

This week's show features a couple of tracks from the debut album by XX TEENS, POPULAR WORKSHOP (recorded by Steve Albini), PLASTIC PASSION, DAVID CRONENBERG'S WIFE, and an "Artrock classic" from HUSKER DU.
