Heartless Bastards

It had been over 2 years since Heartless Bastards joined us in the Lounge. Since we last saw founding member Erika Wennerstrom, she's relocated to Austin and altered the lineup of the band which now features former Shesus drummer Dave Colvin and Pearlene's Jesse Ebaugh.

In this session, the band performs a stripped down set of tracks that will be released on a new cd from Fat Possum in February of 2009 called "The Mountain."

Recorded in Austin with producer (and Cincinnati native) Mike McCarthy, Erika reveals that the new album veers at times into folkier territory and features some expanded instrumentation that includes strings and even a pedal steel.
