WOXY.COM: WOXY for iPhone!


Listen to both of WOXY's channels on-the-go with our new iPhone app! In addition to playing both the WOXY Live and WOXY Vintage channels, the WOXY Radio app will display the artist and title of the currently playing song and automatically adjusts to work over WiFi, 3G and EDGE. This is just the very beginning... we have plans for many cool additions to this app in the coming months. The WOXY Radio app is available for FREE right now in the iTunes Music Store: WOXY Radio for iPhone

Can't wait to download this in a little while... I'm too impatient, so I have a question - what are the strength of the streams, 64k, 128? 1026k?

Fourthisto - The app should automatically adjust between the 128k and 64k streams depending on whether you're on Wifi or 3G/EDGE.

ipod touch i'm guessing......

which, by the way, apparently you need to get the OS 3.0 update for the ipod touch to run this app. i think it runs about 10 bucks through itunes but you would need it for a bunch of other stuff anyway.

Do you know if AAC works on the iPhone? I definitely prefer the AAC-32 over MP3-64 any day of the week.

yeah, that's what it said when I tried to download it here at work. Once I get home, I'm gonna try to limp a computer back to life so that I can get on iTunes and get the 3.0 update. Then I'm gonna get me a WOXY app!

Thanks for getting this out there, guys! Maybe get some more people too as it is called "WOXY Radio" and if people are just searching for "radio" it'll pop up!

edit: Wonderboy: hey, I think you just need to update your itouch software in iTunes to 3.0. Agateophobe said above that she got it on her iPod Touch. give that a shot.

Well, in the meantime you can listen via Shoutcast for free, but the official WOXY one is well... official .

The one thing I like about Shoutcast is that it tells you the number of listeners to the streams (who are using the same method) ... it was always just a neat thing. Oh well!

Very cool - can't wait to use it.

Not to seem greedy or anything, but is it possible in future updates to allow streaming of the Modern Rock 500 through this app in addition to on the website?

Yes. We're told that they're already working on an update that will allow for streaming of the on-demand programming on our site. Can't give you an ETA on that just yet, but know that they're are folks doing the work already to make it happen!

This is the first thing to make me seriously consider getting an iPhone. No kidding. All the other stuff I've heard about is cool and all, but this? Excellent.

I am really happy about this app, and I love it!

But... has anyone else noticed the stream intermittently cutting out? Vintage seems to work fine. Is it just me?
