Mmm. Is this a current or alltime, or upto interpretation?
Everytime I make a new playlist I keep having to add in these:
The Constantines - Shine A Light
Ladytron - Blue Jeans
The Greenhornes - Can't Stand It
The Rapture - Olio
Okkervil River - The War Criminal Rises and Speaks
But these would be the alltimers from the past year:
Carmelos de Cianuro - Interpol (if you have never heard of them, get this song, it is soooo good.)
Bob Dylan - You Ain't Going Nowhere
Phish - Chalk Dust Torture
Tim Buckley - Gypsy Woman
Broken Social Scene - KC Accidental
Pretend Girl
23 Sep 2003, 08:16 AM
5. Don McLean - American Pie
4. The Eagles - Hotel California
3. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
2. Rolling Stones - Paint it Black
1. Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
I couldn't seem to find a place for a Beatles song, or for the Clash's London Calling, or for some other stuff that really belongs there. 5 songs of ALL time is hard...

led zeppelin - bring it on home
beatles - norwegian wood
bob marley - rat race
the smiths - how soon is now
and for #5, i'm leaning heavily towards ween's transdermal celebration.

Modern rock top 5 songs according to me. I am a longtime listener and music lover of 36 years. Don't know how qualified that makes me since this is subjective, but here goes:
5. Joy Division - Shadowplay
4. Velvet Underground - Sister Ray
3. Sex Pistols - Submission
2. The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
1. Neil Young - The Needle and the Damage Done
It is an impossible task to name the top 5 modern rock songs of all time. I just think that Neil Young song is one of the best songs ever written by anyone worth a listen.
