Not being that saavy w/ my PC, I need a little help organizing things within my folder (movies, mp3s, etc. Y'know, the "illegal" stuff). Now, do I have to do the tedious task of making a new folder for each one, or is there a simpler way where I can specify how I want things organized? I know, I should figure it out by myself, but I've tried and am too lazy to try to get too in-depth.

Are you just wanting to break things apart? Everything in one folder and want to create seperate ones for music, movies, etc.? I don't know of anything that is going to do the process for you. I'd say the easiest way to do it would be to create the folders. MP3s, movies, etc. then just copy and paste. You can sort by type and just select them all.

Well, for one thing, use Windows XP Pro if you aren't yet. This is a great tip for anybody wanting to organize any files, in my opinion. Even if you keep a lot of media in one or two folders, this can help.
Right click in a folder and when the menu pops up, go to View. Set the folder to show "Details" and also to "Show in Groups." Then, go into that little right-click menu of sorts again and set the folder to arrange the files by type. (If you prefer, you can do it by name, size, etc.) I find type works best though because you view all your video files, for example in one list, below that all your audio files, etc. With the View setting to "Details," the default will show the name, file type, size, etc. If you go into the advanced settings for this, you can have it show anything you want to, and set the order. This is also great for a My Documents folder, as it will organize your spreadsheets, text documents, images, and power point presentations. Then, if you want to move each into its own folder, the task of selecting all files of a specific type is much easier, as opposed to finding each in a big conglomeration of mixed files/file types.
Of course, if you do this, make sure you go into the Folder Options from the toolbar in that window and set your computer to apply those settings to every folder on your computer (if you want it to).
I may just be blabbering about something you already did, though.
