I know that there must be some Bands on the Run geeks here, so I decided to come back from the woxy board dead and post to try and see if you all can help. For those of you who don't know, BOTR was a fantastic show on VH1 where four unknown, unsigned bands competed to try and win a record deal (if I am not mistaken, which I usually am), a video, and rotation of said video on VH1. I don't wish to debate on who was the rightful winner of the show (*coughSoulCrackercough*), but I was wondering if any of you know if there is a place where I could get my hands on either a VHS or DVD (fat chance on the DVD) of the series. I don't believe VH1 ever released it (as a matter of fact, I don't think VH1 even ever followed through on the second season which they were supposed to air), but it was my favorite show and my friend and I are dying to get our hands on a copy of the series. Can anyone help? If you can't help, please interject your feelings about BOTR and updates about what is going on with any of the bands would be cool. I know Soul Cracker isn't doing much, and that most of the guys from SC have side projects.

Flickerstick were signed to epic, re-released "welcoming home the astronauts" and then got dropped pretty qucikly.

Last I heard they were shopping around for a new label.

I haven't heard much from SC except that Beastie is out

Flickerstick also came out with a live CD also. Imagine that. Like "THAT" was REALLY needed. I kind of feel sorry for them. I think winning band contests are the kiss of death. Look at the 97X winners. Where are they now?

Other than Harlow, I think any of the bands deserved to win. Flickerstick was the showmanship of the biz, Soulcracker the work ethic, and Josh Dodes Band was talent.

I have both the Flickerstick and Soulcracker CDs from that time period (thanks to a bud o' mine) and think they;re okay--nothing I'd part with because there are some good songs, but nothing that is spectacular either. It's sad to hear that they aren't doing much, or very well for that matter, anymore, but I agree w/ Ol-One-Eye, contests always seem to be a band's downfall, although I'd like to see another BOTR--it's good entertainment.

I liked Flickerstick the best from this show.

I saw the Josh Dodes Band at Canal Street Tavern, and gained a great deal of respect for them. When I saw them, the only original members still in the band were Josh and Adrian... I learned that not only does Adrian have a really good voice, she looks more stunning in person than she does on television.

I am a big Flickerstick fan. I have met the dudes from Flickerstick. I have seen Josh Dodes as well and they are very nice people.

to clarify, Flickerstick WAS NOT dropped from Epic, they left Epic due to their rep getting fired. and yes they are shopping for a new label.

:)

Flickerstick deserved their win for the music. Soulcracker deserved it for their work ethic. Both are absolutely nowhere now, so it really doesn't matter.

I liked Soulcracker. Flickerstick pissed me off when they did that god-awful cover of Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You." Blech. However, I do give them points for mentioning they really liked the song. Of course, my point system means nothing, so BAH!
