ummm......

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Television network NBC said Thursday that Matt LeBlanc, star of NBC's top-rated comedy "Friends," will return in his own spin-off series when the 10-year-old show ends its run on NBC next year.

The new program, to be called "Joey" and starring LeBlanc in his popular character Joey Tribbiani, is scheduled to begin airing in the fall of 2004, on the same night, Thursday, as "Friends".

"NBC's wonderful relationship with such a once-in-a-decade series as 'Friends' will continue," NBC programming head Jeff Zucker said in a statement.

You'd think NBC would learn after trying Julia Louis Dreyfus and Jason Alexander's shows... those didn't last too long either, hmmmmm?

Guess this means Rachel and Joey won't be ending up together.

Not that I care or anything.... *ahem*

Think they'll use Concrete Blonde for the theme song?

I doubt it, it's not upbeat enough, but that would be cool.

I really don't like Frazier, but it has had a nice post-Cheers run. "Joey" will have the same writing and production team as Friends, so don't count them out just yet. Although, with Frazier and Friends about to end and ER having just about run it's course, NBC has to do what they can on Thursday nights to compete.

I dunno. I just don't see the character of Joey being able to exist on his own for long. the only one I could really see making the transition would be Rachel, based mostly on Aniston's celebrity. Maybe even Ross. But not Joey. Joey without Chandler makes for boring TV. I'll check it out, but I don't have high hopes.
