Anyone else see this new series advertised on A&E called MI-5? It begins next Tuesday, July 22nd. The first airing will be 8 CST, but looks like the rest of the episodes will be Tuesdays 9 CST. That's good--it will be right after Keen Eddie.

Don't know what to make of it, but the premise sounds good.

Yeah, I saw a commercial for it last night. It looks fairly promising. I definitely plan on tuning in.

It is DEFINITELY worth watching! CR and I watched the first series last year (called "Spooks" in the UK) and he's already started taping the new series for me.

Trust me on this one, you won't be disappointed.

Just a reminder that this is on tonight. Thanks for the scoop, MK!

I had to bump this...

Does anyone watch this? I am absolutely in love with this show. The writers have such balls when it comes to changing everything up... First Tom is basically exiled, then they bring in Adam (yummy), then they send Zoey to jail, then bring in Adam's wife (meh...) and then, THEN the kill off Danny! I couldn't believe it!

When are they bringing Tom and Zoey back? They need to bring them back!

And the more I see her the more I love Ruth's character!

I totally missed this thread. A&E had a mini-marathon on a couple of weeks ago and I got to catch my first episode. I loved it. I'm thinking about picking up the first season on DVD and seeing how it all started. Another great British show...just wait for the American bastardized version to hit :p

I used to absolutely love this show... then they got rid of Tom, and then Zoe. I liked that they brought Ruth into the forefront and holy shit... they killed off Danny? Cool! Clearly, I never liked his character. Ha- I should have read your whole post before I started on this rant.

Anyway, the last episode I saw was the one with Andy Serkis. I got completely pissed off at the suckitude of the show after that and stopped watching, but I'll have to watch the remaining episodes now. Cool.

Adam (ditto on the yummy-ness) was a decent replacement for Tom, but somehow I just liked Tom better. The heart-wrenching relationship between he and Ellie... Good stuff. The series 2 finale, where he shot Harry blew my mind! Loved the series 3 premiere, too, I seriously was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Then meh- no more Tom.

Hey what do you know... end of rant... for now.

The episodes weren't that good to start with this season after they kicked out Tom. The last one was EXCELLENT. I dropped my jaw a couple of times.

I have to say, I like it better than Alias. They have dumbed down Alias so much now, that for MI-5 to make me think is great.

I liked Tom better too. One of my favorite episodes is with Tom and Zoey pretending to be brother and sister and the Columbian girl who is stabbed at the end.

Danny bugged me too a little. Too whiny...

Cool. I'm watching the final two episodes from series 3 right now.
My favorite episode was the one where Ellie and her daughter were trapped in Tom's house with that bomb and there's nothing be can do to get them out. Wow.

I totally agree about this being better than Alias. But I feel like a better comparison to this show would be 24. Spooks/ MI-5 is far superior to 24. Mainly because the characters have so much depth. Which, incidentally is one of the things that makes English television so much better than American.

and then, THEN they kill off Danny!

Holy shit! I mean, I knew they were going to shoot Danny, but when they fired the gun, I still screamed a little. And then my cat gave me a funny look that seemed to say, "You retard!"

I don't know why this scene bothered me more than the episode from series 1 where they shoved that agent's head in a deep fryer and then put a bullet in her brain... maybe because I invested more time in this character... although I had the same screaming reaction when Tom shot that guy in the series 3 premiere. And when Tom shot Harry... okay I think this is starting to make sense.

Oh well, anyone who's ever seen me play Perfection knows that even though I know it's coming, I still squeal when it "pops!"

So that explains that. Also, please note that Spooks/ MI-5 will definitely be back for a 4th season sometime in late 2005. So there's that to look forward to... although with a complete turnover of the 3 agents who were the focus of the show to begin with, WTF are they going to do now? As much as I want them to bring back Tom, I have a feeling that just isn't going to happen.
