In the Ren and Stimpy thread, the Sheck and I discussed our disappointment with the new R & S. It was anything but funny and completely ruined the memory of what R & S once was.

I watched it, and then Gary the Rat and Stripperella afterward. I didn't really expect much from either, but was really curious. Well, I was right on target. Both shows were so unfunny and unimaginative, I found myself fighting to stay awake to watch this crapfest. All three of these shows will be cancelled in short order, mark my words.

Have to agree with the Sheck. If this "First Network for Men" is gonna be a bunch of dick, gay and poo jokes, count me out. It seems like they're reducing men to the lowest common denominator. Like we're all stupid and the only thing that will hold our attention are action flicks, wrestling and banal cartoons. Frankly, I'm insulted. Sure, I watch wrestling, but it doesn't mean I want to see an entire channel devoted to the male stereotype. Come on, give men some credit and put on some quality programming aimed toward MEN, not 14 year old boys.

I'm kinda glad I don't have cable now...I dunno how they can call anything involving Pamela Anderson "smart" did they not see barbwire?

Everytime I read something like this I get to reaffirm my decision to get rid of our cable. I'm glad my memories of Ren and Stimpy will remain untarnished.

i second that cable opinion. we have it at our house, but i very rarely watch anything but the NHL and/or any other sports.

the only show i've seen on this new men's network is that strange japanese competetion. it's entertaining, but i don't think i could watch it for more than a couple of weeks.

i'll stick with dave attell.

Same here.. I usually get stuck watching those "I love the 80's" on VH-1 or The Daily Show With Jon Stewart (when I get a chance) other than that, it's a waste of money.

Elkins said Green always makes sure to read the copies of Entertainment Weekly and People lying around the shop's breakroom, "just so he can point out all the stars and shows he's never heard of."

I love The Onion!

My sister told me that during their James Bond marathon, many of the commercials were for women's products? Can anyone back her up on this? I think it's hysterical that a station which bills itself as "the new network for men" is showing commercials for always...

True dat. Apparently, James Bond draws a lot of woman TV watchers, hence the commercials. Lots of tampons and blackhead removal commercials. Bronzetree nailed it on the head with his description of Spike TV. So Spike Lee lost his lawsuit? Or did he get some of that proverbial 'fat cash' in a settlement?

It was a settlement.

Ironic that the first network for men pussed out in their first (of many I'd imagine) confrontation.

Here! Here! We women deal enough with men who act like boys.
