Hey folks - what are your favorite holiday movies?

A few of mine:

A Christmas Story "Fra-Gi-Le - must be Italian!"

It's a Wonderful Life (Oh, Jimmy Stewart!)

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (original cartoon one - refuse to see the Jim Carrey version)

But probably my favorite is the Claymation Christmas Special (TV movie) with the ice skating walruses and those two narrators (what are they, dinosaurs?)

I must concur with the addition of Christmas Vacation. I consider the fact that Randy Quaid failed to recieve an Oscar nomination for his performance as Cousin Eddie, one of the greater travesties enacted upon humanity.

I dunno....

Peter Billingsly is now a film producer. His latest work is a film called "Made".

Hmmmm.... favorite holiday movies.....

DUH! (for those of you referentially challenged, see avatar to left)

Among others not mentioned here, I enjoy watching SCROOGED, although I am aware that it's not a good movie, Bill Murray cracks me up.

Also, a Thanksgiving movie PLAINS, TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES still has a good Christmas feel to it.

"Whaddya figure the temperature is?"
"1."

The version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL with George C. Scott in it is also good.

Not on topic.... but has A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS ever made anybody else cry? I'm asking for a friend... yeah, that's it.

YES! I love this movie!

"You know what I'm going to get you next Christmas, Mom? A big wooden cross, so that every time you feel unappreciated for your sacrifices, you can climb on up and nail yourself to it."

The only good thing about that is that it gets new viewers turned on to this wonderful film. Anyone know that the author of A Christmas Story Jean Shepard was once a regular on WLW in the 1950's or 60's. Read his book In God We Trust...All Others Pay Cash.

well yeah, but it just grates on my nerves...almost like the wizard of oz being played every year at the same time--i never got excited about it, now that they don't play it...i actually miss it...besides, with the advent of video and DVD, now we can watch them anytime. Why not spread the love around to some of the other holiday movies?

National Lampoons is always good for a laugh
as well as Planes, Trains and Automobiles (it's a holiday movie)
and A Christmas Story is fun.

Oh, and Charlie Browns Christmas. I love Charlie Brown.

In the Christmas-with-guns category, I nominate Trapped in Paradise. Yes, you have to put up with Nicolas Cage's blank looks, but you get John Lovitz and a kleptomaniac Dana Carvey who steals all the candy-cane pens from the bank.

For you movie experts - whatever happened to the ORIGINAL Mickey's Christmas Carol cartoon that used to be on every year? You know, the one that had the shorts of Donald's snowball fight, Goofy's ski trip and Pluto barking at Chip and Dale in the Christmas tree at the beginning? Can one purchase it?

From www.DVDfile.com

Also just announced from Warner are the full-specs for the highly-awaited two-disc special edition of the perennial classic A Christmas Story. Also due on October 7th, in addition to anamorphic widescreen and full screen transfers, extras include a screen-specific audio commentary with director Bob Clark and the cast, the "Another Christmas Story" documentary hosted by star Peter Billingsley, the "A History of The Daisy Red Ryder" and "Get a Leg UP: A Shining Light of Freedom" featurettes, the "Jean Shepherd Radio Program," "Triple Dog Dare" and "Decoder Match" interactive games, easter eggs and trailers. Retail is $26.95.

Great news! Why didn't they do this in the first place? Now I have to sell off the "standard edition" DVD when I buy the upgraded @#$! DVD.

Umm...I'm like 2 years late here, but how come no one mentioned Emmit Otter's Jugband Christmas? It's the most badass holiday flick ever. Unless you count The Santa Clause. That is cinema at it's finest.

Well....you got me. Hook. Line. Sinker.

I can sing EVERY song from that show/special/movie.
It's one of my all-time favorites. My brother and I proudly showed it to my 5 year old nephew last Christmas. He was bored out of his mind. But, he did like the way his dad kept saying "mashed potatoes". ;)
