yeah so, this guy is interviewing me for ChainDLK (http://www.chaindlk.org/) for a piece he's doing on 'the industrial and electronic scene in the tri-state'. it got me thinking. is there and industrial/electronic 'scene' here? just what constitutes a 'scene' anyways? i hadn't really been aware of anything along those lines, but i don't get out much. i figured this would be a good question for you peeps, as well as a good way to get out of that annoying "i'm a newbie troll" mode.
so how 'bout, peeps?

Tis a very good question Sleepy, but one I don't have the answer to. There used to be a small industrial "scene" in Dayton but I've no idea if it is still going on or not. Anyone else know??

scene? nah.

a couple isolated groups doing very neat stuff? definitely.

sonicterror (http://www.sonicterror.net) comes to mind first, but they definitely lean more towards idm than yr usual industrial stuff. more like taking that kind of noise to another level.

i guess i should broaden that to be more of 'anything electronic' instead of just 'industrial'. does anybody really play out here?

most of these blend electronic sounds with other genres, but it's a list, at least..

( currently playing out a bit )

chalk (http://www.chalkmusic.net)
coltrane motion (http://www.datawaslost.net/motion/)
burning star core (http://www.dronedisco.com/bxc)
fotos (http://www.theunlike.com)
line 47 (http://www.line47.sonicterror.net)
fudgie & fufu (http://www.fudgeiandfufu.com)
boom bip (http://www.dirtyloop.com/BoomBip.html)
a secret safe/ismo & the food (http://datawaslost.net/123/A_Secret_Safe-Magic_Lamp.mp3)

( occasionally playing out)

elation (http://www.mediavoid.com/elation/)
kendall bruns (http://www.kendallbruns.com)
hungry lucy (http://www.hungrylucy.com/)
lesniak (http://www.roesingape.org/lesniak.html)

gossett, mallory, 4192, and others have a bit of an electronic edge as well, but it's definitely not their main focus. for the most part, it's pretty scattered.

i do the occasional remix.. you could ask line47 and the rest of the sonicterror crew, one of them would be into it..

kendall bruns and fudgie & fufu both have done remix cds (of their stuff) in the past year.. you should see who they got.

also... i forgot about kenya dubois, who makes some great triphop. can't remember the website though/

definitely check out Chalk

in my opinion, they're the best local group that has a lot of electronic stuff in their music...

i saw Fudgie & Foo Foo when they opened for Rasputina at the SG house. good times. so mr. bond. can you put the word around that i'm looking for remixers? i have 11 of the 13 tracks from the album the remixes will come from online here (http://www.ampcast.com/tsp). i'll throw kenya and line 47 a buzz tonight... isn't Chalk gonna be at the Free The Music event?
