Wasn't sure whether to put this in the TV or Film category, but since it was on TV, that's where it'll go. So, did anybody watch this? There were 400 total hero and villain nominees from 100 years of film, which were sent to 1500 industry folk to vote on. The Top 50 vote getters in each category were featured on the show. It was pretty interesting to see who placed where. A few minor disappointments here and there (Hans Gruber is listed in the villains section, but there's no John McClane? Han Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi, but no Luke Skywalker?), but for the most part, it's one of the first of these types of lists I don't have a ton to disagree on. Check it out.

I would have to say Jaws from the James Bonds movies should have made it.

I was really expecting more entries from Tom Hanks under the hero category.

I hate the AFI. They put out all these greatest movie lists and such, and they don't even get half of the best movies. Now, granted, it's all opinions, but who cares what a bunch of 70 year old fuddy-duddies (yes I said it) say about cinema.

I don't think Travis Bickle should be on the villain list. Yeah, he did some bad shit, but he was no bad guy.

How does Reagan MacNeil even qualify? She was a victim of the devil, which was the real villian, not the girl....

...and I don't get how Goldfinger beats out Blofeld,

...or 'Man' from Bambi...

ugh.

I had the same thought when I watched the show. I read yesterday, though, that characters weren't classified for the voters, so it was strictly up to them to determine whether characters like Bickle were good or bad. Interesting that they chose Villain for him...

UH, YEAH, why was Die Hard or anyone in it even a consideration?

and what about Henry Hill in Goodfellas, the worst kind of bad buy, he's a RAT.

I think Danny Vermin from "Johnny Dangeroulsy" should have made the cut, man.
