Naw, it's just a testament to my stupidity.

IPray, glad you're here. I was actually trying to respond to your comment about the pogues in another thread. The County Hell boys are a group of local musicians you all may know who cover the pogues, steve earle, social d, you name it, if they ever play again... see, that was simple.

My mission here is done. Sledge, make this thread vanish like a plate of Ho Hos.

Very truly yours,

Bitch de Sledge

Many moons ago (around 1986) I saw the Whigs do a Pogues tune at Sudsy's.

Wait a minute... of course the Pogues are a local band. Shane MacGowan went to Saint X with my cousin. Watch an interview with him -- when he can't quite make out the question, he'll say "Please?"

And if you need further proof, here are lyrics from one of their best-known songs:

I love you baby since we were at school
I didn't show it I was a fool
You were burning I was cold as ice
And baby now I realize
I'd like to buy you a Cheese Coney
Oh yeah

Yeah yeah yeah yeah (yeah yeah yeah yeah)

Case closed.

Wasn't Shane MacGowan a doorman at Shorty's in '92?

Actually, I think the whole thing started because IPFS wondered if my "Irish band" sounded like the Pogues. A coupla years back we used to do "If I Should Fall From Grace..." but we don't play anything of theirs lately. Though I'd love to do "Sally MacLennane" or "A Pair of Brown Eyes."

Sally Maclennane is me favorite....it's what got me into 'em.

That big feller out of Ass Ponys has some pretty funky teeth. Is that Shane McGowan?

Expectantly,
