soup of the day
12 May 2003, 11:13 PM
After playing its last show on Feb 13th, 1998 at a packed Top Cats Club. Rob Fetters opened that show acoustically in support of his upcoming solo cd and The Simpletons closed the night out as they were on the verge of taking over the poprock scene in Cincinnati then.
After several fans asking if and when a reunion show may happen and the band reconciling some personal differences, all the members decided to get together and give it a whirl.
Original members Paul Otten, Jeff Redwine and Andy Redwine played together in an early 90's original band Redwine, then along with founding member Doug Staab, also of quirky poprock band Gravy8, the band played its first show in November of '94, in 1996, the band had a lineup change when Jeff and Andy Redwine left the band for personal reasons and drummer Brian Otten came in to play drums as the band went back out as a 3 piece. The band went on to some moderate success regionally playing many festivals and club gigs in and out of town from '95-98 before breaking up. Porterhouse released two cd's on GSpotRun Records, a small indy label which went away in 2001.
The band decided to get together with all members playing together on stage and see what sort of melodic trainwreck it could cause. Come out to Jack Quinn's on Friday May 30th to witness some fun times and see some old familiar faces. Venus Mission opens the show at 9pm, Porterhouse follows at 10pm and special guest t.b.a closes the show.
