Burning Brides rock. It's a three piece -- the singer/guitarist and the bass player met at Julliard where he was studying acting and she was studying modern dance. The drummer also plays in Hot Snakes. Their music is an amalgamation of punk, garage, and metal, and they are excellent live.

Went to the show last night, enjoyed BB an MMJ alot, however, all the tech difficulties at 20th century made the night a bit dissapointing as a whole. The entire night all the bands were complaining about the monitors and the mics not doint what they wanted them to, must have been frustrating.
It was almost salvaged though when MMJ's lead man did about 5-6 acoustic songs as the encore, that was nice!........

I didn't know of MMJ or Burning . I was there to see Detachment Kit. They were on first and I was a half Hour Late . Got to see three songs. Really Sucks But the songs they did were good.
Definitly saw some sound issues . That venue is really cool but the drums were way to low and the the guitars way to hi.
I liked Burning Brides last 2 songs because they reminded me of Old Metallica ( like a creeping death drum part). I didn't stick around for MMJ, i was dissapointed with missing Detachment kit and burning brides musical style switching. If burning Brides were metal they would kick ass! Oh , BTW my stamp on my hand (moticed when I got home) says the following "Clear Channel Entertainment" Is 20th century dancing with the devil or did clear channel bring these bands together.? Will we ever know?

They've been promoting shows that Bogarts can't promote or shows that Clear Channel thinks will not do especially well at Bogarts. So your answer is yes and yes.
I'd like to see the 20th Century turn into a good venue. The room sounds great. They would just need to have a permanent sound set up and they'd have to do less wedding receptions....

I want to sue Burning Brides for causing me to temporarily lose my ability to hear. I read a book with my fingers in my ears their whole set.
But I really really liked to hear My Morning Jacket. It was better than painless.

that's your fault for reading at a show.

I hate being snotty, but I also hate when people don't take a second to think.
I was irritated by the noise because it was so unnecessarily loud my ears hurt, not because I was trying to read.
I was reading because I was BORED.

I didn't like them. Not even a little. Burning Brides were great and MMJ was everything I hoped for. Sound and lighting issues aside, the show was fabulous.
This was my first time there, and it's a shame that the 20th Century seemed like a bunch of rookies when it came to pulling off a show. Have other shows had the sound and lighting issues that abounded Tuesday night?
