Copies of unreleased Harry Potter novel found in field

LONDON (AFP) - Copies of the new Harry Potter novel, whose publication in the summer is eagerly awaited by fans around the world, have been found dumped in a field in southern England.

Two first editions of author J.K. Rowling's next instalment in the hugely popular series, not due for general publication until June 21, were discovered in Suffolk by an unnamed 40-year-old father-of-two, The Sun newspaper reported.

The daily sent a journalist to collect the editions, which were now being kept securely in the newspaper's headquarters in east London.

The paper said it was making arrangements to return the books to publishers Bloomsbury, and did not spoil the plot by revealing any details.

The copies of Rowling's fifth instalment, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", were found near Clays Ltd, a firm which will print hundreds of thousands of copies of the new book, the Sun reported.

The Harry Potter series, available in more than 40 languages, recounts the magical exploits of Harry and his wizard school friends and his struggle against evil Lord Valdemort.

The books have made author Joanne Kathleen Rowling a multi-millionaire.

This is a bit of what I just read about it which is pretty interesting:

'Shifty'

The copies were reportedly found a quarter of a mile (400 metres) from Clays Ltd, which will print hundreds of thousands of the book.

The walker, an unnamed 40-year-old father-of-two, telephoned The Sun, according to the newspaper.

It sent a journalist to bring the books to its headquarters in Wapping, east London, and is arranging to return them to publishers Bloomsbury.

The newspaper is also convinced a third copy is also in circulation, reporting a separate incident where a "shifty sounding" man had asked the newspaper for £25,000 in a suitcase for the first three chapters of the book.

I love the fact that this series is SO huge, it generates this type of chaos! That's a story in itself. I don't think I would have called The Sun first, tho!
