AMERICANA EUROPE
launch manifesto
April 14,2003
========================================
Dear Friend,
April sees the launch of Europe's newest and youngest music promotion and
publicity endeavor, Americana Europe. Founded by long-time music journalist
and historian Alex Tobin, Americana Europe will focus on just what the name
implies: Americana music. In Europe.
Situated in Amsterdam, capital city of a country deeply enamored with
roots-based music and steeped in a rich musical heritage, Americana Europe
wants to help spread the gospel of the music we all love and care about
deeply.
Out with the old, and in with the new. For too long, Americana music has had
a somewhat musty and staid image. Americana Europe wants to revitalize the
scene, rejuvenate the crowd, and shine a new light on roots music. Combining
proven success formulas with new insight and approaches, we want to help
introduce the songs and the singers to a new, young crowd. Targeted radio
and TV promotion, direct approaches to the right journalists, and active use
of the Internet and its sister technologies the mailing list, the newsgroup,
and other interactive means of communication... Americana Europe wants to
offer artists and labels a total package. We want people to buy the CD; we
want to have rear ends sitting on seats in concert halls, tapping their feet
to good, honest music.
There is still a lot of potential for American artists in Europe, and crafty
songs with intelligent lyrics will never go out of style. Holland, Belgium,
Germany, France, the UK, Italy... These are just some of the markets that
often remain untapped when it comes to reaching full potential. Through
close contacts with concert booking agencies and record labels and
distributors, we'd love to help bring more artists over to the Old World and
have them discovered by a new audience, made up of keen listeners.
Americana Europe will not charge outrageous prices! That's right: We know
that artists and labels don't have cash to throw around left and right,
especially in these subdued economic times. You'll find we easily compete
with others, no matter what level of promotion you're in the market for.
Curious as to what Americana Europe can do for you? Our website
http://www.americana-europe.com will be up soon, and there you will find
details on who we are, how we work, our artists, their tour dates, plus a
bevy of links at your disposal.
Please get in touch for more info. We're in it for the music.
