good show. i was pretty exhausted though and with the drive from and to dayton i probably wasnt the most attentive concertgoer. chan's voice gives me goosebumps.

i have two questions though...

1) who was the guy that opened? i kinda liked him. i enjoy solo blues crooning. the song about billie holiday was really nice.

2) why in the heck were people yelling SHUTUP really loud at each other towards the end of the show?

if she would have at least acknowledged that there were people in the room wanting to see her perform, a simple hello, they might have actually paid some sort of attention to her beautiful solo numbers.. but alas, she's got too much "stage freight" (which is a giant load of shit) and didn't seem to bother.

i even went up close to the stage and at times was difficult to hear over people talking - forget hearing anything in the balcony. ...and people thought yelling shutup would actually make people stop talking.....

i love the music, but the "show" is pretty disappointing. it would have been cooler in the parlour to 10 people.

i thought the opener was lame.

sleepy time. love her CDs but her live shows zonk me out. i was waiting for a nervous breakdown on stage...no luck. prosaic must be working...and is apparent in her live show.

too many Louisvillians there

strange how different Cincy and Louisville music scenes are

it's like oil and water

agreed. i dont know maybe it's psychological. a lot of people knowing they have to stand around for awhile tend to want to move but they only really seem to want to move if there's a lot of noise. so at the more mellow shows people of course end up standing and not moving a lot and then some get antsy. some get bored. then some start talking and the music becomes background. i bet if there were chairs at the show down on the floor, people would have been more attentive. not that people should be made to sit or anything, just in my experience more people seem to be attentive at the more "mellow" shows when they have the option to sit down so that's just an observation. also, people are idiots and dont know how to behave sometimes.

i agree with ksensa. yo la tengo would also be a good "sit-down" show. while i like both yo la tengo and cat power, standing during a show like this only makes people (including me) antsy.

or maybe i just really am getting more into stuff that just flat-out rocks. i like slower music, but my attention span is short, i guess...it was hard to pay attention when i couldn't see anything going on up onstage. i probably would have enjoyed the show more had i been able to see. i was a bad girl and talked to a couple of friends during the show. the music was really good; i just didn't connect with the performance.

plus, the crowd was a mix of all kinds of people and it kind of weirded me out. all those hippies - where did they come from!?!?

It's sad that it's came to this. Remember when no one could ever want to sit down at a Yo La Tengo show?
