i'm relatively new to the area (only been here for three years) and have been trying to gain a bead on the local music scene. so far, i've gathered this list of websites and message boards, encompassing very different parts of it. what am i missing? (btw i'm not interested in individual artists' pages, as cincinnatishows.com has a pretty thorough page on that...)
www.cincymusic.com
http://boards.cincymusic.com
i haven't looked at them much, but i've been told by someone who knows their shit that they have "a lot of roots rock bands and groups that want to sound like matchbox 20". their message board has a lot of traffic.
www.cincinnatishows.com
duh.
www.neussubjex.net
www.neussubjex.net/bored
one-page old school punk paper zine. their message board is very active; Cincy's hc, punk, and indie rock scenes converge on it.
www.hfmonline.com
www.hfmonline.com/board/index.php
this is new. some kids in Dayton, Oxford, and Hamilton run it. primarily focusing on Christian metalcore, they're seeking to act as a meeting place for hc kids in Cincy, Dayton, Columbus and everywhere inbetween. they haven't gone completely "public" yet, but there's already over 60 post-ers on their board.
www.cincypunk.com
i'm not going to comment on this site because i don't want to mix my own personal shit with what i do to try to support the local scene. most of the people who post on their board are into bands that play the Warped Tour.

www.cincymetal.com
eh... they focus on helping commercial bar rock bands, so it's not as "metal" as many of us would have hoped. however, the legendary Chris Lee does a zine on there where he comments on the local metal scene. that alone makes the site mention-worthy. they also have a board.

this is the answer to the question "where's the Cincinnati metal scene?!". this is the webpage for the Metal Connection & Metal Attack Radio Show, and the Skullcrusher print zine. they're on WAIF 88.3 FM, a low-frequency station in the 'Nati.
www.datawaslost.net
