I recently ( friday) bought the d4 album "6 twenty" and gave it a listen. I've purchased some real crap in the past and never admit toit. I defend the crappier cd's in my collection, but there's no defending the D4. It's regurgitated " new garage". That's fine, some other bands' regurgitation actually appeals to me, but there's no silver lining with this album. did anybody who picked this up actually dig it? will it grow on me?

I think studies have been done saying the more you hear something, the more you become acclimated to it, and therefore, more tolerant. If all you were able to hear were Avril Lavigne and Linkin Park, you would grow to like their music. So, yes the more you listen to D4, the more you will like their CD.

Unless you had ready access to a pistol, that is.

Is this thread about "the Dillinger Four" D4? Or is there a new group calling themselves that?

The D4 are Kiwis. Different band from The Dillinger Four.

I saw them on Letterman and they looked like they put on a good show. Loud and sloppy with noodling guitar solos and heavy beats. I haven't heard the album, but I can see how it might sound painfully derivative. They don't look or sound like they are breaking any new ground, just rockin' out and having fun.

Here's (http://popmatters.com/music/reviews/d/d4-6twenty.shtml) a popmatters review.

Here's one (http://www.splendidezine.com/review.html?reviewid=32537320141505604) from splendid zine.

true, they're not ground breaking. but they should've kept their brand of garage in the gragae. the datsuns and the kills do it better. but yeash, it's growin on me. either that or i have a rash.

My best friend Jef looks EXACTLY like the bassist in The D4. It's soooo eerie. I mean you see those people that SORT OF look like someone else, but this guy is my friend's exact body double.
