Mike Ruetschle is going to be on "Dayton after Dark" and take part in the Oregon Express show. Great faux-Brit pop.

I hope the cd goes over well, cause Dayton needs a new influx of sound. The cover bands and the cliques just squeeze everyone out. The cd and the release parties are a very good idea.

I like 'em anyway though. They're nice guys.

"I hope the cd goes over well cause Dayton needs a new influx of sound. The cover bands and the cliques just squeeze everyone out."

right now there are so many really great bands in dayton-- such as Captain of Industry (who are amazing), 8 Bit Revival, Lab Partner, American Static, The Stowaways, and pretty much all the projects the boys of Team Evil Records are working on. oh-- and the Fire Science as well.

Dayton After Dark Cd--- Kind of funny that my band was not asked to be apart of this cd. We have been around for almost 4 years now and have played with alot of people. At least two of the bands on here we have played with or I should say they played with us. Its almost as if we were left or something. Anyone out there have any Ideas why Crazy Joe and the Mad River Outlaws didn't make on this cd?????

I would guess that you guys didn't make it because you didn't respond to the numerous advertisements that were put out seeking submissions for the project.

We just didn't wanna' pay the $50 unless someone agreed to glory hole us at one of the cinemas in the Oregon District.

crazyjoedrmmr
17 Jul 2003, 07:01 PM
Yeah I heard that you had to pay $50 to be on the thing. So what you are telling me is that they wouldn't give you guys a glory hole or I should say no one would agree to at least. Whats up with that?????

Pat Just so you know, he put an announcement out on local message boards and such. He didn't really "invite" anyone per se. I agree, you guys should have been on it. But I really don't think you were left out intentionally.

I asked the guys in the group if they knew about it, and they said no. I then saw an article in The Dayton City Paper talking about "Dayton's Night LIfe" and I was MAD!! Some of the bands on there we have relationships with and some we dont. It felt like a stab in the back to me. Oh well, you win some you lose some. I hope the cd sells and gets the name out for some of the bands out there. :D Oh and its about time Drexel Dave!! LOL

I produced the album on my own. As i don't know you personally, i could not invite you to be on it. However, I didn't really "invite" anybody. I advertised on local message boards (including this one) and had flyers up around town from December to March.

I was contacted by over 50 bands who heard about the project, so it is fair to say the word was out on the street. I would've been happy to have you on board if you submitted something. I guess you weren't paying enough attention! (just kidding).

Just to clarify - each of the participating artists got a box full of CDs, a bunch of stickers, 2 posters, a gig, and a heck of a lot of publicity - so i think they got their money's worth.

My friend Nathan (Chortle) gave me a copy. I like this album.

My favorite songs (excluding "Jenny" because I have all of Shrug's albums, and excluding Buckra because I have The Fall of Porkopolis) are the leading track from Oxymoronatron (better on disc than live), Emily Strand's song, My Latex Brain's song, and Maery Lanahan's song.

Well, I know I didn't see anything and the guys didn't see anything. We dont do a whole lot of message board surfing. I just happen to have found this post by sheer dumb luck and I thought I would leave a message on it. I am not pointing any fingers at any one. Just seemed kind of weird thats all. I mean someone could have asked us. Oh well shit happens I guess. No hard feelings though. Crazy Joe and the Mad River Outlaws aren't going anywhere so there will be other cds to be on.

Here's the original thread... Calling All Bands! (http://msg.woxy.com/showthread.php?threadid=5486&highlight=compilation)
It was kind of fun to go back and read this again.

Besides the online ads, some of the places i had flyers up included Canal Street Tavern, Hauer Music, Ace Music, Gem City Records, and Second Time Around.

By the way, I still think Drexel's 'East Dayton Saturday Night' would have been the perfect song to end the album. Oh well, we can't always get what we want.

a couple of us who were part of the dayton after dark compilation project are still hanging on in the dayton band playoffs. the poor devils and me and my band (mike ruetschle). I understand the poor devils just squeaked by and I need your help to do the same. we are playing our round 3 show against a band called lathargic. lathargic beat one our other DAD space brothers, oxymoronatron, and according to oxy. they are an all cover band.

lathargic out-pefformed my band in terms of their round 2 vote count so i will need all the help I can get to nose past this one. hope to see anyone who can make it out this sunday, august 17th, at 9:00 p.m. at canal street for our round 3 show.

Yes Oxymoronatron was defeated on a Monday in the year 2003 by a cowboy cover band. Even though we don’t swing that way we are cool with It. hell they had more pised off parents dozens of cousin and grand parents then we had fans…. O well I can live with that we only lost by 10 votes 60 to 70…… we made them sweat it.

I guess what I am getting at.

Is beet those dudes in the name of Oxymoronatron! For honor must be brought back to the house of Dayton After Dark we must all gang up grab our throwing stars and destroy Lethargic The enemy. They are a mighty foe and evil to the core. So when you rock – ROCK HARD and ROCK Swift.

Avenge our defeat…..

Ps: those dudes will want to fight… They are mean …. We are lovers not fighters…
All I want to do is have some fun. AND ROCK. Is that so wrong?
