Since every hot day tends to make news I thought this subject would be appropriate. Of course the truth is one or s single or even 15 unusual seasons does NOT make a trend.

Chinese weather 'coldest winter in 100 years'
Temperatures expected to warm, but fog and freezes still predicted

I posted that story in your thread about 2007 being the 5th warmest. But yeah, the data seems to be all over the place.

See? Global warming is a myth. The goddamn commie Chinese are stealing all the cool air!

global cooling was the big fear as recently as the 70s.

but with the somewhat-newly discovered effects of 'global dimming' it could make sense that China has dimmed itself into the cold. have you seen pictures of Beijing's smog?

(yeah, the effect would be quite that local, but anyway... =)

I think this points out why "global warming" is a misnomer; the issue is actually climate change.

yeah, but is 1 degree C really 'climate change'? and if it is, is it really '"manmade" climate change'? who knows.

i still say just live responsibly, and at least we'll know it's not our fault...

Chenzhou, a city of about 4 million in the central province of Hunan, began its 11th day without power on Tuesday, with people lining up at fire hydrants with buckets to get water.

Can you imagine the political uproar if this were to happen in the US? A city 8 times bigger than New Orleans (pre-Katrina), without power for almost 2 weeks?

But in China, people just go about their business. :::shrug:::

So... all of a sudden, people in China can afford air conditioning. Maybe too many Chinese kids left their front doors open. What's the big deal?
