I hate MM but props to him if this movie gets things rolling.

Yeah, I couldn't argue with a whole lot in it really. I expected some good points out of context with really far-fetched logic, but it all made sense.

I had a bit of a problem that he went to a waiting room in one Canadian city and then that represented Canada. (Like in Bowling for Columbine where he went to a suburb near Toronto and surmised that nobody in Canada ever locks their doors.) In such a big country the experience of the healthcare system varies a lot, especially in terms of waiting lists for surgeries and all that.

But that's being picky maybe, and I thought in general it was well-done, and if I lived in America I'm pretty sure it would make me really angry.

MAL,

I saved an article from Business Week for you discussing this movie and giving some pretty startling information that I thought you would be interested in.

namely, 47% in the US cannot see a Doctor within three days of need - which kinda of blows the arguement of "don't want to have to wait to see a doctor" response to national health care out the window...

i think you'll like it. I'll give it to you at our next lunch.

I can see a doctor within an hour but my health insurance doesn't cover office visits. It costs me as much as $90 out of my own pocket.

my own insurance is quite good, but it costs an arm and a leg. and I actually pay more than my employer does.
