This two-part WaPo series takes a look at the conditions faced by wounded military personnel. Sobering, to say the least.

It's a resemblence of a larger problem in our culture when it comes to healthcare. When that gets fixed so will this.

it's shitty and crappy and if all those young people who idealistically go in the military saw this and knew about it the recruiting numbers would drop so drastically Iraq would have to be abondaned.

it's digusting and extremely angering.

After reading that I am more angry than ever. Fuck you Bush for sending our people into this mess and may the hounds of hell knaw at you for the rest of this life and the one to come after.

I dont have the time to read the full article now. However I have been to the Walter Reed hospital and can attest to it being a run-down shit hole. I cant say anything to the people that work there and i'm sure the majority of them are top-notch. Sad state of affairs for sure.

There was a story on the national news about this. The Walter Reed Hospital bought a vacant hotel across the street and "renovated" it for a group of outpatients who didn't need minute-by-minute care.

The reporters showed mildewed showers, mice infestation, crumbling walls, and moldy floors. The patients, many of whom were barely ambulatory, had to walk miles to nearby facilities to get prescriptions or therapy. It seemed to me that these people were simply dumped off to get them out of the way.

It is pathetic to see our soldiers treated so badly, and shows once again that this administration claims to be supporting our troops, when in fact they are sending them off to fight without adequate protection and then leaving them out in the cold when they need medical attention.
