'Stimpy' drummer found dead

COVINGTON - Independence police have confirmed that a body found yesterday in the woods near the Northern Kentucky Industrial Park is that of Bruce Willis, 44, of Independence.
"It's under investigation," said Independence police Capt. Tony Lucas. "We're not anticipating foul play or anything. We're leaning toward an accidental death."
His body was frozen when it was found.
Willis was the drummer for the band Saving Stimpy, which had played at Woodies Tavern in Florence on Saturday night. Police say Willis and a group of more than a dozen friends returned to his home afterwards for a party, and police believe Willis left his home on foot around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
Police responded at 4:30 a.m. to a neighbor's call about a possible prowler. They searched for about half an hour, but did not find anybody. Police now believe the suspected prowler was Willis, and that he wandered away from home on foot.
"It looks like he walked forever," Lucas said. "I don't know what make him set off on foot, but something put him out there."
Willis' friends, concerned that he was missing, began searching on Sunday morning. Lucas said they tracked Willis' footprints and a piece of clothing to the Northern Kentucky Industrial Park, where they found his body in the woods behind Holton Drive around 2 p.m.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Since Willis' body was found in the woods, his death is labeled suspicious and the Kenton Commonwealth Attorney's Office was called, Lucas said.
"I think once we get the autopsy back, we'll be able to answer a lot of questions," he said.
On Monday morning, the band's Web site displayed a photo of Willis and the message, "We have lost not just a drummer…but our brother. He will forever remain in our hearts."
The Web site and the band's MySpace page also carried messages of condolence from fans and other musicians.
Willis is survived by his wife.
