I'm not sure how many of you knew Sonny, but I know he was pretty involved in the local scene, so for those who knew him, you should know that he passed away this weekend as a result of a heart illness.
I was always amazed with the amount of people who he knew and who knew him. He is already missed.

Yes I knew Sonny. A really nice guy. Is there a service planned or was there? I had not seen him since I stopped working in the local scene myself several years ago.

Wait, was he the tall guy that worked at Top Cat's from time to time?

Yes, Sonny was the tall thin fellow that worked at Top Cats from time to time, he also did some label work too I believe. Big Whigs and Tigerliles fan too (Tigerlilies played at his graduation party)
As I recall he was born with a serious heart condition that requred him to be hospitalized several times. I recall him telling me that no one expected him to live past puberty. I don't know his age but I would guess Sonny was in his late 20's.

Jesus, that fucking sucks. I knew Sonny, too, but never knew his last name. My Great Aunt and Uncle are Lebanese and they're friends with his family (also Lebanese I believe). I thought he was a Jim (a Lebanese family). I'm surprised I hadn't heard about this yet.
This is horrible. Can't claim I knew him well or even consider him a "friend", but he was always a really cool guy every time I met him. Damn.

Some of you might remember him from Nightwaves, too. I don't remember the night we met, but we stayed up late many nights playing and talking about music. When we'd meet up I'd always ask him how he was doing. He always acted like the next round of whatever medical treatments he was going for were no big deal - he seemed to always put others first and not seem too concerned for his own condition. Sonny was an all around great guy and I'll always have fond memories of him.

A visitation will be held for Sonny at the Radel funeral home (650 Neeb Road) on Wednesday between 4-8. The service is at St. Theresa's (Glenway and Overlook) at 9:30 am on Thursday.

Hey everyone. I went to school (Elder) with Sonny and hung out back then, but you know how it is after H.S. Every once in awhile I would see him and BS for a little while. We always laughed about stuff from way back. Anyway, just heard about it today and am bumming because I missed the services and I live on Overlook none-the-less. For everyone who only knew him from work, he was a hell of a person inside and out and his family and close friends are in my prayers. He was 32 and an Elder grad class of '88. Take care and keep rockin!

Wow. I happened upon this thread just now. I thought it was Sonny & I would write to him. Happened to find an old business card of his last night. I had no idea. How incredibly sad. Was not close with him by any means, but he was always such a nice person.
