I've been having bouts of lightheadedness and dizziness for a couple of weeks now. I really think it is just a pinched nerve because it started when I was really pushing myself lifting my girly dumbbells and I have another weird symptom of maddeningly itching shoulder blades. But last night I tried to get busy with the better half and couldn't because I got lightheaded. Enough is enough. Nothing interferes with my nookie, dammit. And I'm getting up there in age so it wouldn't be a bad idea to get checked out. Problem is, I've only seen a General Practitioner once in about 20 years. In essence, I don't have a doctor. Can anybody recommend a good GP or Family Practitioner? Preferably on the west side of Cincinnati or possibly Pill Hill.

He is not on the west side, but we have had the same family doctor forever.
Dr. Cox (http://www.montgomeryfamilypractice.com/drwilliamrandallcoxmd/)
He's in Montgomery, but he is well worth the drive. Even when I was in Knoxville, I said that if there was anything seriously wrong with me, I'd make the drive to see Dr. Cox. Whatever you do, stay away from Dr. Kubala in the same practice. That woman is a cunt.

20 yrs? don't you have one of those female problem doctors that could give you the name of someone?
I love my GP although I mostly see his Nurse Practitioner as I never have to wait for her. There is a female doctor in the practic - I've seen them all & have been going since the dawn of time. He is on Mason Mont. Rd in Mason - so not much help....the west side of town is forbidden to my people.

He is on Mason Mont. Rd in Mason - so not much help....the west side of town is forbidden to my people. There are three doctors where I go. All are good but only two are covered by my insurance. I see the nurse practitioner when my doctor is not in since my insurance will cover her.
Actually, I end up paying for 100% of my visit anyway so I don't even know why they direct me to her instead.

20 yrs?
Yep. Other than my allergies and girly stuff, I almost never get sick enough to see a doctor. And the one time I did go in that 20 years wasn't because I was sick but because I was in a new HMO and had to establish a Primary Care Physician. I don't even remember who that doctor was.
I did try to get a recommendation from the girly doctor but he was no help. Do any of these east side doctors that are being recommended have secondary offices? Like near the hospitals in Clifton? I would just rather have a physician either close to home or centrally located.

The Health Alliance has a physician referral service. You could contact them, then cross check the names they give you against your insurance company's provider list.

My husband sees Dr. Handleton in Mariemont and really likes him (he hates doctors). Dr. Handleton is with Health First Physicians (I think) and they have other offices around the area, they're listed in the yellow pages.

This is my wife's and my doctor, but I've seen a couple of others in the same office that were great too. Located in the Christ Hospital professional building it doesn't get more central then that. Only downside is I think their scale weights heavy.

I recently started going to Margaret Braun. I've only been to her a couple of times but liked her. Also, my mom goes to another doctor in the same practice, Regina Kohls. She looooves her. The office is located on the west side too. It is located in a building across the street from the Western Bowl/Cancun Restaurant parking lot, in the same parking lot as that tire place. Here's the address if you are interested:

Hmmm... could it be vertigo?
Does the dizzyness get worse if you lean your head back?
Does it feel like you are drunk, loss of balance room spinning type stuff?
If so it might be vertigo... I had a bout with it last year... It was HORRIBLE. Fortunately I was able to self diagnose myself and find a technique (Brandt and Daroff) on the net that worked for me.
Of course that doesn't explain the itching... unless it's anxiety brought on from the vertigo that causes the itchy feeling.
Here is an animated how to... I wish I found that when I tried to do it... it was really hard to figure out what they were talking about from reading it.
http://www.dizziness-and-balance.com/disorders/bppv/brandt/sixth.html
I was amazed it worked. Once I started the excercises it took about a week to totally go away. That was after about a month of vertigo.
Any how I hope it's nothing serious...

Dr Cox was my GP for the last 4 of 5 years...I only saw once or twice a year for annual exam and the occasional cold. He's all right, but I never felt like he was totally concentrating on me.
I use Dr Stephen Boyd, D.C., in Hamilton! for most everything. I've been in regular chiropractic for the last 25 years, and believe that is what has kept me healthy. A chiro would be the first place I'd turn for dizzyness as opposed to a M.D., who might be more likely to just push pills at you. Dr Boyd took away the slight touch of vertigo I had last month with just one visit (which is good, since I still drive from Louisville to Hamilton! to see him.)

Dr Cox? Doesnt he go around calling all his interns girls names?

I don't know, but the chicks who work in that office are absolute cunts. I figure they must be related to Dr. Kubala. I don't know anything about the intern doctors. I've only seen guys there -- and I haven't seen any there since 1998. (Because I wasn't living here, not because he hasn't had any.)

If you want someone on the westside there is Dr. Smith, Kravitz, and someone else. Their office is off of Race I think on Miami Rd. right up from the steak 'n shake. I think I saw Smith and he was pretty nice. There is also a female doc there, but I dont remember what her name is. It's also where my parents go and they seem to to like it.

Blue Ash - Dr. Denise Stretcher of the Blue Ash Family medicine or something like that. She takes just about all insurances and is ranked as one of the top 15 docs in Cincy.
She's wonderful, I really like her quite a bit.

I don't know where else I'll get the chance to post this, so here goes...
I went to high school with a guy named Eric Doctor. He actually went on to become an MD, making him...Dr. Doctor.
I also have a co-worker who goes to a Dr. Butcher.

A doctors ranking is so cool! I didn't know about it. I hope they have head-to-head challenges, just like boxing.
