CCV urges Butler County residents to boycott purveyors of porn. (http://www.wcpo.com/news/2006/local/06/07/ccv.html)
Hustler is swamped on the weekends, I'm sure this idea will go over well

It's really sad that this simpleton Burress has been allowed to operate, nearly unimpeded and certainly in tandem with Si Leis, for as long as he has. Let's face it, in most cities he'd be seen as a fringe nutjob. In short, he makes the town look small like it's being run by a buncha tight-ass puritanical zealots.
This just in: the town *is* being run by a buncha tight-ass puritanical zealots.

"That includes some hotels offering adult movies on pay-per-view."
These are about the only places you will find porn in the Middletown/Monroe area, if that. Brother Flynt isn't going anywhere. His feet are firmly planted and he's got the money to fight the man, unlike the other numbnuts trying to sell their wares. Bristol's closed down a year ago because of their own stupidity (financial corruption, strippers not following distance rules, various liquor liscense violations, etc). Bud Wilmott tried to open another strip club on Dixie Highway, but that didn't last long either. He's blind, for crying out loud. The people who run Middletown couldn't slap their asses with a catcher's mit. God, I hate this place.

My single proudest moment(and probably highlight of my mother's shame) was the day that Rumors went all-nude.
For those who don't remember...Phil Burress's CCV was protesting the strip club in Mt. Carmel. Since they operated as a topless joint(selling alcohol) with few criminal incidents for about 2 years, CCV was getting nervous that they wouldn't be able to shut them down. So, they pressured Union Township to revoke their liquor license. Not enough violations to do so, so they decided to basically rezone that area to remove all liquor licenses. This ended up shutting down two other small bars(one owned by a Vietnamese family who somehow survived in this hick area...and actually was known as a great family friendly location).
Now, when they succeeded with this, they thought Rumors would just shut down. Instead...they decided to ditch the liquor and go all-nude. This meant, the location was no longer a 21 and up bar, but an 18 and up all nude strip club. The best part? I was 18 at the time.
So, that day, I drove over there(lived like 4 minutes from it) with a friend. We watched the members of CCV protesting it(I think they believed that the doors were gonna stay closed or something...it was like 10:30am). Then, we saw a Channel 9 news crew. They were interviewing people. They spotted me and my friend and came over to interview us.
We'd just planned on checking it out...but at that moment, I determined I was getting on TV. So when they asked why we were there, I said that I was only 18 and previously had been too young to enter the establishment, but now, thanks to the help of Phil Burress and CCV...I was free to enter and view women in their totally nude glory. I even said "Thanks Phil!" while waving at the camera. Then, a bouncer at the front door offered me and my friend free admission...so we walked in as the cameras were filming us do so.
We stayed about 10 minutes and left...but the best part was seeing myself on the 5:30 news that evening.
Sorry for the long off topic story...I just always am amused at groups like CCV. How many people do they really think they're helping?

I haven't heard. Bristol's sits about 100 yards away from the Hustler store, on adjacent property. It's possible that the Flynt's have bought the property and are planning to build or expand into that space.

Originally Deja Vu was going to, but I was told that fell through.
I doubt Flynt would do a strip club now. It'd be too much risk for their operations of their other businesses in the area. Let's face it...people are much more accepting of Hustler locally than they were 5 years ago. And his brother(who's running it) is a smart guy. He'll wait a few more years until most people are just used to them, before ruffling any more feathers.

Just a personal note...
Years ago, my mom was on the jury for a case in Hamilton involving the VIP video stores. She had to watch the tapes that were in question...IN FRONT OF A PACKED COURTROOM.
Imagine people watching your mom watch porn.

Porn has been around since the dawn of man. This explicit image was preserved at Pompeii. (http://www.chass.utoronto.ca/~ikalmar/images/couple.jpg) I've said it several times in other threads that we, collectively, are so sexually repressed as a society that it isn't even funny. Yes, porn can be a problem for some individuals but as a whole, I think we have MUCH bigger problems to tackle.

True dat. If you go to any major city surrounding Cincinnati they have plenty of porn shops. I would like to see the list the CCV put together of porn shops in Butler county so I would not have to drive all the way to Dayton to get to this place.
