Channel 12 said it was 500 to 1,000 yards from my neighbors' house, but it's more like 100 yards from my back porch. I didn't hear anything until the roughly 35 emergency vehicles decended. Jesus.

Well, glad you're okay. I'm reminded of a story my aunt told me about my uncle who was a Navy pilot who once landed a single-prop plane (I forget which kind) practically on top of a house, then called her to tell her he'd be late coming home in such a manner as to suggest he was merely caught in traffic or something.
