Looks like a US jury has ended its four month trial. Here's the breaking news at CNN;

Jail time, unless President Bush pardons his pal Ken Lay...

There's a more complete story here:

It says Lay would be sentenced on Sept 11. Yikes.
I'm glad to see some measure of justice for all those employees who lost life savings, retirement, and jobs because of those criminals.

It would be nice if the Justice Department could figure out how to force some of the other players like Lou Pai to at least have to part with their ill gotten gains.

Hmmm. A date that will live in... well, you know.
Now this date will be significant for two things which could be argued about as to which caused more economic harm.

"As Lay's verdict was read, his daughter Elizabeth Vittore, who has been one of his attorneys during the case, began to sob uncontrollably. His wife, Linda, clutching his hand, wiped tears away silently. All of his children sat in the front row with other members of the family. One of his sons put his face in his hands and wept." :D :D :D :D
Sorry kids, Dad's a bigger crook than Al Capone, and at his age, he might just die in prison. Maybe all those people who lost their life savings, their pensions or their jobs just might pray for him.
I like the scorecards:

I found this line pretty interesting as well:
"A legal expert tells CNN that Lay will spend the rest of his life in prison if his conviction isn't reversed on apppeal."

Seriously. He seemed like the sleaziest of the sleaze.
Whatever happened to all the crooked traders who were implicated in the California energy crisis, among other things?

His wife, Linda, clutching his hand, wiped tears away silently.
She was just sad because they had to sell one the vacation house in Colorado. It's such a hardship.
Fuck these guys. They're crooks.

I loved how Lay kept bringing up God and Jesus when he spoke to reporters... When in doubt, play the religious sympathy card... I just can't believe there are people still falling for that
