Ok, I have a question. One of my friends and I remember hearing this "Steady As She Goes" song on 97X when we were in high school (we graduated in 2002), but my other friend told us that we are nuts and could not have because the album did not come out until last Tuesday. Am I just nuts? Help me out on this. :)

From the Amazon product listing:

The Raconteurs are a new band made up of old friends, consisting of Jack Lawrence (bass), Patrick Keeler (drums), Brendan Benson (guitars, vocals, keys) and Jack White(guitars, vocals, keys). The seed was sewn in an attic in the middle of a hot summer when friends Jack White and Brendan Benson got together and wrote a song that truly inspired them. This song was "Steady, As She Goes" and the inspiration led to the creation of a full band with the addition of Lawrence and Keeler. While each of these four individuals have had successful careers with their own bands, the culmination of all of their talents is what truly makes The Raconteurs a force to be reckoned with.

Unless you are thinking of these guys (7/2/02). I don't think woxy would have played them, but it's the only thing other than The Racontuers I could find.

Perhaps it was Paul Oakenfold's "Ready, Steady, Go"

Maybe you heard Joe Jackson's "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" or perhaps the cover version done a few years ago by _________???

The music and rhythm during the verses is, um, uncannily similar.

or what about Bethel Acres, OK's very own Wade Hayes (http://www.wadehayes-woww.com/index.html) ?

He coined a song of the same title on his 'Old Enough to Know Better' release from 1995.

I am old enough to know better to know it was not played on WOXY at any time, though...

No....I remember the Ready, Steady, Go song....I liked that one, too. It is not the one I was talking about, though. I swear they played it at some point when they were still FM....though, after some consideration, I think it may have been after I graduated from high school. I listened up until they went off the air, though....so maybe they played it between '02 and '04. Or maybe I really am losing my mind...lol
