With all of the problems in this country today, this moron picks gay marriage as an issue important enough to amend the Constitution? After the Schiavo affair, I guess I shouldn't expect any less from a cardiologist who claims to be able to make neurological diagnoses by watching a videotape of a patient. I thought marriage was a state law issue, but I guess I'm mistaken. We already have an anti-gay marriage constitutional amendment here in the State of Intolerance.

i fucking hate frist and i fucking hate what he's doing here, but from a purely political standpoint it's kind of a smart move. if republicans have anything to worry about in the upcoming election it's disgruntled conservatives sitting at home and not voting. nothing like a little homophobia to light a fire under their ass!

It will never get passed. And if it does -- well then, I say it's time for the revolution to begin.

I think it will backfire.
When people start to think fo the constitution, and this issue will make them think about it, and when they see that this amendment is targeted to a small group of individuals and just doesn't fit with our constitution...
This is what's needed to turn the moderates away from the republicans. I bet you this issue doesn't make it past april, but we'll see.

Last that I know about this, it was voted OVERWHELMINGLY in favor in Ohio. It's a democracy, ya know? And not only that, but it's also a free country, so feel free to move to Vermont or Massachusetts or some place like that ;)

As opposed to a "Bored" internet message board poster? I'm just saying...

If it doesn't fly there's probably a p.r. campaign in the works to convince people that if we are not careful a group of terrorist could land on our shores and set of a "gay bomb." No doubt a campaign headed by those i.d.-ers. Then the Repubilcans could secure 50% (sic) of the vote.

Well, the one thing that will turn even conservatives away from an amendment like this is an erosion of state's rights.

exactly... the rising deficit, and unprecendented growth of the federal gov't, etc. didn't exactly offend them. States rights don't matter to the republicans if they get in the way of keeping their majority, and all the money that goes with it.

For a politician, Frist is a really good heart surgeon. He should stick to that, where he can actually do people some good.
