My son is in first grade. We wanted to homeshcool but it didn't work out, so he's in school. I keep trying to convince myself that his teachers and the staff aren't fucking morons, though that act just like morons, but I'm having a real hard time.
And now I see that a first grader has been suspended for sexual (what's sexual mean dad) harrassment. I guess common sense isn't in vogue anymore.

And to think I could have sued all the little boys in elementary school for flipping up the girls' skirts on Friday Flip-Up Day.

The Brockton School Committee defines sexual harassment among students, in part, as "uninvited physical contact such as touching, hugging, patting or pinching."
Wow. There was *lots* of sexual harassment going on in my grade school. We just didn't realize it at the time.

I don't have any kids but aren't they pretty affectionate at this stage? You know, spontaneous hugging and kissing? Sheesh... I guess kids have to be taught now that any sort of affection is wrong and people have to be cold and emotionless droids. This is one of the most ridiculous stories I have heard in a while.

Man, if that I had been my teacher when I was at that age I would likely have done some hard time.

I kissed the back of a girl's hand in second grade. (I was in love).
She slugged me. :(

This is completely ignorant. Suspension for sexual harassment? The behavior should be dealt with but not this way. How do they expect to explain sexual harassment to this child without explaining sex? And they should not be explaining sex to a first grader.

Who knows what goes down during "nap time" with those mats out. I remember my teacher played Enya(sp.?) during nap time, ahh good times.

Every time I think I've heard it all or think that people can't act any more idiotic, there's someone alive to prove me wrong.
Don't they remember that they, the punishers, did this sort of thing when they were that age? Are they really saying that they don't like how themselves have turned out? Are they hypocrites? Are they scared or overconcious?
