Didn't see this posted elsewhere, so:

Saturday 31st
Ballroom BUY!
Bob Mould (Solo, Acoustic)
$15 / $18 | 8PM doors, 9PM show | 18+

The only issue is that the 31st is actually friday, not saturday, so I'm not positive on the date... that's just copied from the website.

I'll be there, though. I've liked almost all of his projects and I've never gotten to see him.

As an update, it is officially friday the 31st... the ticket order had it right, but their main page is off a day.

Bought my tix... this is shaping up to be a good spring for concerts!

For those who will be there to watch Bob Pollard make a drunken ass of himself on Saturday, I'll see you there. (I'm trying to make Of Montreal at the end of the month, too... and I just bought my tix for Ted Leo. Damn this is an expensive habit!!!)

No. No he won't. And if you go, don't yell "Diane" either.

Now, HOLY SHIT! Bob Mould is playing Southgate!

runs off to get tickets...

is this a solo performance (only him w/ guitar) or will he have a backing band? if he tours with a full rock band i'm there. i've seen the solo w/ guitar stuff, i want to see a full-on rock show!

haha, I think someone actually yelled "diane" when he played at earth day. you were there, I take it?

yea, I like bob's songs and all, but I've seen acoustic bob. I want to see flying V wall of noise bob.

It's an acoustic show. I don't think the full band will be with him this time out. It's possible he might bring a backing track, but doubtful. The acoustic tours are usually just Bob and his guitars, maily an acoustic and an electric Stratocaster that he pulls out for the last few songs. The Flying V has been retired since Husker Du. I've seen him in this setting about 6 times (including Eden Park, Empire Cleveland, Staches), and with his various band incarnations (Workbook/Black Sheets/Sugar/post-Sugar solo). While the acoustic shows are usually all pretty much on par with each other, he always plays different songs. He's got a new acoustic/electric guitar that he just started playing, so there will probably be a little bit of a difference if you are familiar with his acoustic shows.

I've also talked to him via e-mail him a few of times over the past couple of years about coming back to Cincinnati and playing SGH. He's never really said why he won't come back through, he's always hit Colombus, Louisville or Indy. Looks Like Cincy is the only area stop, so far. Maybe he finally took my advice.

I've seen Husker Du and Bob solo with a complete band (late 80's) so I look forward to seeing him acoustic.

I'm envious. What material was he playing at the times you saw him?

When I saw Husker Du it was the Warehouse: Songs and Stories tour ('87). When I saw him solo it was for both the Workbook ('89) and Black Sheets of Rain ('90) tours. Most of the stuff was off of those releases but I recall that Husker Du did play Celebrated Summer, which is my favorite of theirs.

All good shows!!

I was just going to give this a little bump, b/c I'll be there!

So it may just be the Matts....

I assume I'll be in the balcony, but it depends on the crowd.

I'll be honest - I'm surprised there's not a little more interest in this...

whoops. Sorry dan... missed your earlier reply - see you there, too.

So we've got a couple of matts and a dan...

Nice to meet you mik and good to see you again monk. I really enjoyed the show. It was a nice changeup from acoustic to electric for the 2nd half of the set. Bob's music, whether Husker Du, Sugar, or solo has always been like an old friend. It always feels comfortable and it never seems old.

Well said.

I was very happy with this show. There is no doubt that Bob loves what he does and he performs as much for himself as for the crowd. Nice crowd - small - but enthusiastic.

looking forward to your pics, mik - good to see everyone.

Based on the comments of those who attended, it seems the crowd was on the small side? This puzzles me. You would think Mould could fill Southgate House.
