You guys must have an answer for me on this, I don't know why I was trying to look it up without first consulting...

Where is the best place to buy art supplies online?

I'm just looking for a mat cutter & some frames...can anyone recommend a specific mat cutter or frames for that matter?

I'm going to be making some of my own personal 5X7 prints, onto canvas paper possibly...not sure what that will look like.

I'm not sure what size to mat a 5X7, in order to make it look good on my walls...I was thinking about just a regular 8X10 with a 3" mat all the way around, and then doing like three similar prints in a row?

Anyway...if anyone wants to weigh in, lemme know. I appreciate it.

Also, if I want the effect to be like reproductions of the original...I probably shouldn't use canvas paper to print on yeah?

oh well, let me know what you think,
Greg

Afraid I'm not much use there. I buy all my art supplies in person at Lancers or Michaels and save on the shipping. *shrugs* Atomic Age mistrust of buying online, I guess. Maybe one of those places have websites that you can buy from. Good luck!

Dick Blick online all the way, great deals...but avoid the actual stores, those places are ran by total douche bags

Daniel Smith, and ASW (Artist Supply Warehouse) are very good...but I would have say Daniel Smith is probably the best general catalog that order from

Dick Blick or Utrecht were always good to me. I don't know if they have any stores in the mid west but I know they have a great catalog and cheap stores on the east coast.

When we lived in Boston, my wife (ex-art student) and I would shop at Pearl Art Supply (http://www.pearlpaint.com/index.htm).

Our favourite place to buy art stuff was Johnson Paint (http://www.johnsonpaint.com/) on Newberry Street in the Back Bay.

Now we buy mostly fabric and yarn at Joanne Fabrics. However, if you work with yarn...my wife LOVES Knitpicks.com (http://www.knitpicks.com/homepage.aspx)

Happy Art Fun!
