Well, I did it. Today I became a full-fledged photographer. I sold my very first black & white photo.

And in talking to the person who bought the photo, I think I blurted out the philosophy to my approach to photography: I take the ordinary and make it extraordinary.

This is the photo I sold today as a framed 8x12:

Yay! Congrats Kate! What did you end up calling it? :)

I called it "Northeast View," since it's a view of northeast Minneapolis from the opposite side of the Mississippi River. "Under the Bridge" or "Bridging the Gap" sounded pretty stupid to me.

Thanks, Spacey. :D

Congrats!

I've always wanted to try to sell some of mine. Do you think anyone would buy this? Sorry it's so big.

Thanks. :)

It wasn't a huge thing -- we had an art show at work, and by the end of the day today, I'd sold two on the spot, and had requests from 4 other people for orders of the same two I sold. So 6 total. I'm floored by that.

I guess it's good to have my photos stored online so people can order them when they want them. You could say today was a good day for me. :D

This was the other one I sold today:

My favorite.

I don't have the space or the money for my own dark room yet, but I'd like to learn eventually. For now I just have them developed at a local photo place where I bought my 35mm camera. They do a great job.

(I hate soliciting, but I could ship you that photo -- PM me if you're interested.)

SallyC--that's fantastic. You do great work. Congratulations. Does this mean you'll be leaving the ranks of Grammar Nerd Editor Girls and joining the League of Hip Photographer Chicks?
