"God is tolerant and loving, but we can't keep sticking our finger in his eye forever," Robertson said. "If they have future problems in Dover, I recommend they call on Charles Darwin. Maybe he can help them."

Hate to break it to you Patsy, but Darwin died in 1882 and God doesn't have eyes.

I hate how the media gives him credibility by making him an "expert" on cable news shows like Wolf Blitzer. If people like Pat Robertson go to heaven, then count me out.

Pat Robertson is awesome.

This is the self destruction of the far right and it's a wonderful thing.

Damning a whole community, calling for assasination of Hugo Chavez? Why do people still follow him?

Why do people still follow him?

Because there are people in this great land who are actually as ignorant as he is.

I didn't look at it that way... yes maybe this is good.

But he's still a cunt.

That is all... for now.

i wish the right would suffer from his stupidity, but I think the politicians are smart enough to know to keep a safe distance.http://www.justtotheleft.com/uploaded_images/pat_robertson_2005-03-30-790371.jpg

Pat Robertson represents everything I despise about the extreme Fundamental Right. Rather than preach tolerance, love, compassion and everything else taught in the Bible, specifically the New Testament, he pictures himself a mouthpiece of a vengeful, hateful God. Robertson completely ignores the "What would Jesus do?" credo and instead heaps hatred, prejudice, and vilification on those that one assumes Jesus would embrace.

The more he speaks, the more he condemns himself and his brain-dead flock of followers. I'm appalled by the garbage coming out of his mouth, but hopefully he'll either stroke out or die a lonely, crazy old man.

For exactly the reasons you just mentioned.
Clipping him would be a lot easier too. Assassination, not just for dictators anymore.

I love it how he says "something may happen and if it does, it's the wrath of God, but it may not happen" or soemthing to that effect. That's like saying to California, "you may have an earthquake, you may not, if you do, it's the wrath of God. But if you don't, God is still mad at you."

Come on Pat... Don't make me call the A-team on your ass! :p

This is just a huge opportunity for the left to embrace tolerant religious beliefs, roll out some candidates who are comfortable talking about religion (as Jimmy Carter said) and just mop the floor with the far right wing zealots. The timing by Carter and the win by a rather religious democrat in Virginia really worked well.

Remember the national (far left) 20 - 60 - 20 (far right) voter split. The republican party has been taken over by the far right 20 and is going to suffer the consequences. The left will rise again, but as always happens the far left 20 will slowly take over until the left goes down and the right comes back.

etc. etc. etc.

This is a good point.

Virginia's governor-elect is not only a Democrat, but one who opposes the death penalty and, as a lawyer, defended death row inmates. Not a popular position in the state that ranks second (after only Texas) in executions. A lot of the "analysis" credits his victory to the fact that he talks openly and frequently about his faith.

Dear Pat,

Don't turn to science if you have a crisis, as you've obviously rejected it. I'm sure prayer will save you.

Good one, Megs.

Thanks to Pat & intelligent design, we now know we have a higher power to blame for the ills of society; poverty, terrorism, global warming, to name a few. It's a relief to know that we humans didn't "evolve" into stupidity and ignorance, as it turns out we were created that way...

This succinctly outlines the argument that ID stands for "Incompotent Design."
