just sat through woxy-vintage playing some style council song... yeesh, that's a different kind of "lounge" act.

The Style Council was the group that Paul Weller was in after The Jam. They had several hits, but I believe they were much more successful overseas than they were here.

thanks shiv. that also answers why I didn't like it: Paul Weller. oh well.

I used to have this running fantasy when I was growing up about being in a really cheesy lounge act. guess it didn't last.

Weller - Style Council - The Jam all are great...Weller is a musical genius...he formed the Jam when he was 16.

I love the Style Council stuff. There are several best of's...check it out.

Paul has a new CD out - heard him play a song on the Alternative (VH1-Classic) about a week ago - sounds good

The only Style Council song I ever liked was My Ever Changing Moods. The rest, I agree, sounded too lounge act-ish. Lyrically, the songs weren't bad, but I could do without the music.

BTW, The Jam rocked!!

This bears repeating.

Weller has always changed and experimented with his style and musical tastes. I agree, it's not Eton Rifles but its different and its show his diversity.

Seeing this thread made me go dig up this old thread on The Jam (http://www.woxy.com/boards/showthread.php?t=18996), in which I was lauding The Style Council. I love them ever so much, raaaally I do.
