After I moved into a new apartment, I went out and bought a dart board, since I liked playing every now and then at bars. Well, now I can't stop playing. I've got my cousin into it as well, and my bro ajax comes over and darts with us as well. I found a dart shop in Lexington, and picked up a decent set of 26 gram darts. I'm hooked on the game. We usually play 501 or cricket. I was wondering if there were any other serious darters here??? Maybe we can get a game going in Cincinnati one weekend.

I wouldn't call myself a serious dart player, but I certainly enjoy playing 501. I guess I could see myself becoming more serious with a lot of practice, because it's certainly a lot of fun.

Nothing worse than playing 501 drunk with 3 of your drunken buddies. It is hard enough adding your score up, but then you have to subtract!

Double in / Double out drunken 501 worse, much much worse.
I've played in Dart leagues for about 10 years now. I would be game to come to the Nati for a nice drinking dart fest.

Sweet! There is a league in Lexington, and some in northern KY/Cincy. I'd like to play in a league, but I'd really like to increase my 3 dart average by quite a bit, not to mention that doubles are the hardest for me to hit. I guess that's why I'm a lot better at cricket.

I think drinking refines my mathematical skills. It certainly enhances my dart-playing skills.

I used to play quite a bit when I got out of college. Bought some 23 gram darts (which I still have). Spent many a night playing cricket or 3/501. When we are done finishing our basement, I will be putting my dart board back up and hopefully find some time to play.

I enjoy playing, but I'm not great.
One night while I was drinking and darting, I accidentally threw my cigarette at the dart board...seriously

Certainly does...I don't even try to throw darts sober anymore.
And don't forget that beanbag throwing game. ;)

Oh yeah, cornhole! Yeah, see my theory with cornhole is that you must have a beer in your non-throwing hand at all times, since it balances you out!

But the one thing I really hate is when somebody has a few great throws and then expects ME to figure out the score for them. Figure it out yourself!

I think this a great time to ask the question that I have been wondering about for years.
If you throw a dart and it hits a wire and flys back at you and you catch it in the air can you re-throw it?

Haha, I was just reading about that the other day. Taken from www.crowsdarts.com:
Now, to settle a rumor that always seems to float around with dart throwers, there isn't any rule that says you get to throw again if you catch a dart that bounces out of the board. Some local pubs may have a house rule, but as a person that use to do it, I would suggest you just back up and let it land harmlessly on the floor. I quit after getting stuck a few times. Think about it, which hand are you going to try to catch it with. Your dart hand!! It could make finishing the game/match a bit more uncomfortable. Though, if you are playing me and can catch the dart with your teeth (kids, don't try this at home), I will gladly let you throw it again and would probably buy you one of whatever you are drinking. Though, I would have to think you've already had enough to drink to try this in the first place.
