My family and another friends family went down to one of those minor league Florence Freedom games on Saturday. Everything was cheap, our seats were $6.50 (not a bad seat in the house), food and beverages were cheap, I think beers were $3.00 and peanuts were 2 bucks. Free parking. They had a big Rainbow play system for the kiddies on the 3rd base side. At the end of the game they gave away huge hotdogs and had a great fireworks display. All during the game they were giving away shirts and prizes. I have never had such a good time at a baseball game. Highly recommended from a generally non-sports fan. A good time was had by all. A nice alternative to the uber-stadium and prices of the Reds.

I love minor league games. We have the Greenville Bombers here, and I have attended several games this season. They are building a new stadium one block from my apartment for next season. Hard to beat the $4 tickets too.

You stole our Capital City Bombers! Now I won't get any minor league action, I'll have to settle for the College game.

I've heard stories from several people about Freedom games and have yet to hear a bad thing. I need to make it down to one of their regular (or semi-regular) "Thirsty Thursday" games - $1.00 beers and free soft drinks for designated drivers! :D

I think the whole Frontier League is a good buy. I go to Chillicothe Paints games all the time and I always manage to enjoy myself in spite of the fact that the PA still plays "Cotton Eye Joe" at least once a night.
Superdogs, $2 beer (with the Beer Batter three or four times a game - if he strikes out, beer is half-price for the rest of the inning), and guys who play because they have something to prove. Good times in a sweet old stadium on the grounds of a VA hospital.

My buddy works for the Freedom, and said it is a cess pool of people sleeping with each other to make it in the front office.
The funny part is the players have groupies!

Maybe the Freedom should play in those Redneck games.

I'm guessing you haven't seen Bull Durham? ;)
It has been my experience that if you get payed to play a sport for a living, or even a semi-living, you will have groupies.
