Ok, so this has nothing to do with politics, but it is a kind of current event. It has nothing to do with any supposed "Conservative Douchebag" in our presence....
Sally Anthony (http://www.sallyanthony.com/) is an aspiring singer in Nasheville. Ok, so thats lame... But she has a kinda funny story.
First off she was credited (http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/news/story?id=1803574) with hiring a female basketball coach for a mens pro team in the ABA called the Nasheville Rythm. Super cool. She's empowering women!
Later she personally fires the coach during the game (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=1979675) and has to be restrained by security! Mmmm, not liking her selection eh?
Then she gets hopped up on booze and Xanax and tried to hurt herself (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=1981784) after the firing.
The team said that she didnt really have the power to fire, and re-instated (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=1983513) the coach. I think they also stripped all of Mrs Anthony's powers. The team was playoff bound after all!
Sadly, upon reaching the playoffs, the owners decided not to play (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2002457) this year.
The best part is that if you go to the Sally in the Press (http://www.sallyanthony.com/press.php) page, it has an article crediting her with hiring a female basketball coach, but nothing else about her envolvement with the team... Also, the pic is of her with a bruised face and her new album is called "Vent". Its funny to me that she takes credit for hiring a female coach, as if she is a pioneer in womens Lib, then a few months later goes on an irrational tantrum (playing into a female stereotype) and fires her . Is that ironic?
I am seriously impressed with this coach, Ashley McElhiney. I cant imagine that the players were super-hyped to play for her at first. But she got them to a 21-10 season and even had players defending her after the incident. Having a female coach males in pro sport is very progressive IMO. Plus she more than held her own. I'm glad she got her job back.
Any chance we'll be hearing Sally on WOXY anytime soon?
