The L Word Returns

So last night was the season premiere of the new season of the L Word...Bette knows she fucked up, Ivan got embarassed, and Dana and Allison have to hook it up. I dig on Shane's new haircut, but she was shitty to the hot new girl and that wasn't ok. Oh and as for Jenny....WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT SEQUINED VEST THINGIE? I mean that was the ugliest outfit I have ever seen her in...

While home alone this weekend, I rented two rounds of movies and included the first DVD from this series out of curiosity. Now I realize why "She's a Genius" has played so often recently; it was on the soundtrack and Leisha Hailey is acting again (always a good thing). Without knowing the full season, it seems interesting enough and unlike the intentions of Queer as Folk, a show I despise. It doesn't seem like Shane ever acts, though.

Last season Shane had some big character developments and she actually fell in love with a married woman...there were two or three heartbreaking scenes with her. Now she is just being a hardass and eyecandy...and if it wasn't for her, we would have no decent sex scenes.

I am SO disappointed that Marina has been written out of the series. I hate, hate, HATE Jenny. What a self centered lil' snot!

I liked Shane's hair.

Do you think that Kit will go back to her boozing ways because she can't get the down payment for The Planet and perhaps Ivan won't be comfortable around her anymore?

I'm always shocked at how Alice is portrayed so slouchy. She's just a wisp of a thing in reality. So, I guess all the other actresses are size 1s or something.

The chick who plays Marina wanted much more money to continue. There was a lot of negotiation, but alas, Marina is gone (you know her mother is a contessa)...

the beginning felt like they forgot how to act. then it got a little better--i'm just hoping that by next week they can get on w/ the plots.

i hope tina doesn't go back to bette, that cheating whorebitch.

I like watching this with my husband just because he hates Jenny so much. I hate her too, but not like he does. I really like the Ivan plotline and am looking forward to seeing where that goes.

I also hate Tanya, but we're supposed to, so it's ok. I hate her the most because she's a cat killer.

I also love how they try to shoot Toronto for LA or Vancouver for LA or whatever. It's not even CLOSE.

It's cool how they are writing in the real-life pregnancy of the actress who plays Tina. She actually looks like a real pregnant woman and not some scrawny 90 pounder with a bump in the middle.

I can't wait for Queer as Folk! (but unfortunately, that will only come after the L word season has ended. I think they need a double feature.)

I was hooked on that show for a bit…but lost my fascination when there was a scene where the confused bi-chick was talking about manatees all the while standing in front of beluga whales. A deeply sensitive poet would know the difference between a whale and a manatee…I hate errors like that.

I don't think she's supposed to be a "deeply sensitive poet." i think we're supposed to mock her and her horrible writing skills. Notice, that she's planning on enrolling in some writing workshop. I think her crappy writing will be called out there. Just a guess.....

Apparently the L word message boards went crazy when the first episode of the season was on. Everyone hates it. I did notcie that they shortened it a bit. But that horrible song was recorded by the band in last weeks episode...Betty. That fuckin band has been stinking up the lesbian music scene for at least 10 years. I wanted to shoot myself when Shane kissed the lead singer...I really really hate Betty. Thank goodness for the DVR cuz I can just scoot right over it...


And a note on the actual show. I really hope that Ivan comes back. I felt like when he gave the money to Kit that was a goodbye...but they are so sweet to one another. Plus who wouldn't want to hook up with Pam Grier??

I really don't think this show is any better the QAF. I am pretty open minded guy but I don't see much difference between the L Word and Queer as Folk. Yet TLW gets much better press.

For some reason I have Showtime on my basic cable in my bedroom (believe me I am not complainin') Anyway I finally saw this show and was impressed by how deep the characters are, writing wise. Also am happy to see there is life for Jennifer Beals past "Flashdance."

YAY new season of L Word...I am totally behind and just caught the 3rd or 4th episode. Alas I am poor and get my episodes taped and mailed to me by my lovely girlfriend.

Love the new character Moira and the music is great so far. Still have the lame-o Betty intro, but in the last episode I heard Le Tigre, the Gossip, and Tribe 8. Will have more to add after I am caught up.
