It is worth noting that the first EVER print ad for WOXY.COM has hit a newsstand near you. The Winter '05 issue of FILTER magazine with Beck on the cover is where you'll find it. There's an eyecatching full-page ad on page 33! Not only is this a great issue, but you can pick it up and have your very own WOXY.COM poster for your walls. :D

I would say "shameless promotion" although there's no shame in WOXY...

are you guys reviving the original 97x logo or was that just for the vintage hoodie?

Picked up a copy of Filter tonight at Barnes & Noble. I had never read the mag before, but am now somewhat impressed by it. I think the ads pretty cool as it, like the t-shirts, shows what 97x is all about.

That's very cool, but you purchased it from the enemy.

WOXY deserves to be in an even better magazine. Is OMNI still printed?

Can you imagine if it was in Rolling Stone or, god forbid, Spin? The undead masses would probably tune in and throw up their spoon-fed pablum.

Great ad WOXY!

If that doesn't get some attention I don't know what will. Now all of a sudden I want an orange shirt.

Get in touch with Jack Rabid and The Big Takeover. It'd be cool if he could schedule a few minutes of every day to do a segment like he did a couple of years ago.

i still think you all should take a poll for the names of the bands that appear in your ads/tshirts - i still can't believe Muse aren't on there!!! :p

BUT - YA hELL YA!
The world will know WOXY.com and then peace shall come.

I'd like to know how many more streams you get during the month after that ad is run compared to the month before. Think you could spill some numbers?

You might just have to drop $5 and buy the mag. It's pretty good anyway.

OK, I did it. I bought a magazine for the advertizement! But of course now I can't very well tear it out, can I? It will ruin the magazine! OH the humanity!!!

Don't know if it was mentioned anywhere else but woxy.com got a passing mention in NYU's student paper. Looks like the word's getting out there

Something the article mentions reminds me of the first time I went to LA in 1990. I couldn't believe how horrible the radio was when I was expecting to to be so good.

The article states:

"Since you, dear reader, are most likely an NYU student, it's highly unlikely that you have ever attempted to navigate the barren wasteland of the New York City radio dial."

Back in the early 90's Detroit still had some pretty awesome radio. I had even heard from more than one person that Detroit had the best radio in the country, and I'm inclined to believe it was true. Then the great invasion of Clear Channel and Infinity i.e. 'corporate radio' came and ruined it all. Now Detroit radio is just as shitty as big city coastal radio. Now I only seem to find decent radio in Lansing from MSU and when I hit some out of the way stations in rural Indiana and Illinois. So much for coastal superiority.

i was just driving home and thinking about this ad...would this ever turn into a poster, i would buy it.

and The Tooth put in a little woxy.com shout out in the last issue...so there's another item in print...spread the word.

That's an awesome ad, I'm so glad I've got a t-shirt like it! :D I've convinced my drinking mates to make 97x the official radio station of our drunk nights. On top of that, I've seen them listening to it in their free time. Conclusion: Word of mouth works.

And, just behind Filter, Swagger magazine is the second publication to have the prestigious privilege of printing a 97X ad, on the back cover no less. Swagger is Chicago's HOTTEST new assault on monotony, and an unrelenting supporter of 97X!

The Village Voice is one of the first places I actually researched when looking to place ads a few months ago. Even placing a HALF-PAGE AD in the VV is way out of our price range.

You're not the only one. I had to visit the corporate bookstore. Unfortunately, my local independent bookstore doesn't carry Filter.

Now to find my Exacto knife.

How about one of their sister publications - the Nashville Scene (http://www.nashvillescene.com/)? They do have a strong music culture there, and it's not all Country Music. :D
Of course, you're probably looking for national exposure, not just additional smaller markets. But with the music industry there, it might be the best mid-size market to try.

i checked out the filter ad and it really was smashing. perfect positioning -- righthand page near the front of the mag, next to, i believe, an article on stars. it absolutely jumped out of the rag at you.

nicely designed magazine and the ad was perfect.

Is that mag free or does it cost? Where specifically can you get it? I was gonna have my brother pick up a copy for me. He lives in Bucktown/Wicker park area. He hits the EL at either the Damen or Division station...I can't remember which.
