View Full Version : Bug tracking

As with any complete site redesign, there are going to be bugs and other display anomalies with various browsers and operating systems. We built the site using Safari 1.2 and Firefox 1.0 so any modern browser should do fine. Please use this thread to post any bugs or other errors you find with the site.

If you find an error, post a reply including the following:

a detailed description of the problem you're experiencing
the URL where the problem was found
the web browser you're using and it's version
the operating system you're using

Thanks!

Howdy,

posted in another thread. On the main page the ad at the top wraps down to below the woxy.com banner. This only happens on Firefox 1.0, IE is fine. I am running Windows XP Pro with my font size (display properties / advanced ...) set to 107% of normal.

What's interesting is that the boards page (what you see above right now), which has the same top banner, does not wrap.

Also, the Spread the word, staggering statistics (lounge act) banners wrap in the same manner, but only on Firefox.

More times than not, when I hit the “back” button on my browser - while in the pages of a thread - it displays the old design - !?

The URL is http://www.woxy.com/ [Of course when you click it, it's not going to show my problem]

I'm using Safari version 1.2.3

and operating system OS 10.3

I have two items. The computer is running Mandrake Linux 10.0...

First, When I click on the 'archive' button, I get this error:

Not Found

The requested URL /boards/archive/index.php/ was not found on this server.
Apache/2.0.46 (Red Hat) Server at new.woxy.com Port 80

Second, the new boards do not seem to play well with font sizing. (Tested with Opera 7.51, Mozilla 1.6, Konqueror 3.2.0, and Mozilla Firefox 1.0)... the following lines merge together vertically:

woxy.com
woxy.com
woxy.com
woxy.com
woxy.com
woxy.com
woxy.com
woxy.com
woxy.com
woxy.com

I have the same problem with the "Archive" button. I don't think it's an OS/browser issue, just a bag link. But I use IE 6.0 and Firefox 1.0 on MS XP.

Something is weird about the view amounts. I'll see one thread with few or no responses that is less than an hour old and it will have hundreds of "views" but another post that is has dozens of responses and only a few dozen "views." In addition, the numbers don't update when I hit refresh, only when I leave the board and come back.

This isn't a bug. Instead of updating the view counts in real time, the new version of vB caches the thread views and updates them once an hour to reduce server load. Now if the counts are flat out wrong, that's another issue entirely.

In the "Now Playing" area, the artist/song sometimes cover the music note graphic. For example, right now Death Cab for Cutie - Christmas (Baby Please... is in the list. The music note appears after the D in Death.

All right, my description probably isn't making any sense, so I took a screen shot.

not so much a bug as a suggestion b. i find myself flipping back and forth to get to areas of the boards (ie. main section to randomville back to main section to current events). it would be nice to have a pull down list on each page to flip to different areas of the boards quickly without so much back and forth.

keep up the good work brutha!

Seems some posts are in the completely wrong threads. There are a couple posts in The Incredibles thread over in FILM that clearly appear they were intended for the Worst Movies thread. Been seeing quite a bit of this, as it were.

Looks like this issue solved itself - ??
Hit the "back" button on my Sarari browser and the home page actually loaded instead of the old black home page. Sweet!

This isn't a bug as much as it is an annoyance.

What's the point in having an "invisible browsing" mode if your profile shows the thread you're looking at? it'd be nice if there was a privacy option for that.

Since the addition of the AAC streams to the main page I get this problem with the text out of bounds:

I had the same problem on the the first day the streams were added. Then the problem just dissapeared. Using Firefox 1.0.3 here.

Just hit refresh and that should do the trick. Your browser is caching the old version of the stylesheet.

Howdy,

Firefox 1.0.3 (forgot to mention that). Clearing the cache and reloading did not fix it. :(

Mine looks just like that when I have the text set larger than normal. hit ctrl - and see if that fixes it. Not sure much can be done for those of us that make the text larger.

fyi,

new page design still has issues with larger than normal font sizes.

Also, i beg of you, change that yellow green to something with less green. It looks icky :) IMO of course.

On my computer at work the homepage doesn't display right. I have the latest news down the left side of the screen. The hot discussion board topics are supposed to show up to the right of this. However, they appear beneath all the news stories, alligned to the right. I have a bunch of wood paneling visible on either side of this central frame.

I wonder if some setting couldn't be changed to let the news & hot topics show up side by side, like they're supposed to? This could be a function of my monitor settings, but I can't change those due to the software we're using. Could the page design be adjusted to be more tolerant of lower-resolution monitor settings? I'd rather have less wood showing on each side and see all the information in the middle.

JD1 - what browser, version, operating system and screen resolution are you using? Could you email me a screenshot?

It's just a stupid little thing but whenever I upload an avatar from my computer, it gives me this message, even though the upload actually works:

"There has been an error in the upload. Please ensure that the file has been correctly selected and that the upload has taken place successfully."

Now Playing got stuck. Jem 24 is the last song, Beck Loser and now The Great Shakes aren't showing up.

Bryan,

in reference to the font size bug take a look at how the woxy vintage page looks on my browser. Notice how the vintage play links are sized perfectly, even thought he main play links are wacked. Hopefully this might help to fix the size problem.
