So it turns out this current wave of televison indecency complaints is coming from a single group. (http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2004/12/13/DDG79AA71B1.DTL). Seems fair enough.

I read somewhere that it took 24 complaints to the FCC to get them to levy a fine on indecency, I believe it was against Viacom.
24 complaints, out of 99 million households with televisions in the United States.
Funny thing, it takes way more than 24 "accidental deaths" to get the FDA to review a drug's safety.
If the U.S. government is going to feed us Vioxx and fen-phen, can't we atleast wash down the side effects with a night in front of the boob tube, without Uncle Sam telling us what we can watch?

Check this out. We all knew this was going on, but what blew my mind was how the FDA fights itself. wtf?

The bf is in clinical research, and I have to say his employer is very careful about what they put on the market. Unfortunately most pharmaceuticals are not, which is why we need the FDA to do it's friggin' job.
If it's lack of money holding 'em back (they are horribly understaffed), why not just ask Powell's staff at the FCC if they'd like to have real jobs at the FDA?
