Scissors Get Girl in Legal Trouble (http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/local/10390856.htm?1c)

A 10-year-old fourth-grade girl at Holme Elementary School in the Far Northeast was pulled out of class, handcuffed, and taken to the local police station in the back of a police wagon earlier this week after a pair of 8-inch scissors were found in her book bag, according to authorities and her angry mother.

(I added the bold for emphasis)

What is wrong with people? The girl didn't have a knife, she had a pair of scissors. I remember using scissors in school all the time. And for third grade & up, we didn't even have to use the safety scissors. We had the regular, stainless steel sharp-as-hell variety!

Sounds like a case of half the story. I'm sure this kid had a history or something. They don't just hall off ten-year-olds for scissors. There must have been a threat, or random acts of origami or something.

p.s. Great Thoreau quote in the sig! TRANSCENDENTALIST IN DA HAUS!
