CASEY'S 2006 OPTION PICKED UP

The Cincinnati Reds have exercised their 2006 contract
option for All-Star 1B Sean Casey, general manager
Dan O'Brien announced Friday.

Casey, 30, on February 22, 2002 signed a three-year
contract extension that included the club's option for 2006.

The three-time National League All-Star has a career batting
average of .304, the 10th-highest in Reds history and
17th-best among all active Major League players. In 1999,
Casey won the Hutch Award for exemplifying the spirit,
courage and integrity of former Reds manager Fred Hutchinson.
