One of the coolest experiences I ever had was with The Beatles.

It was Within You Without You.

R.I.P. George.

I could see the music and could pick out all of the layers of the song one by one. I was like a living mixing console.

Foolsgold - Stone Roses
Cop Shoot Cop (or, really anything by Spiritualized or Spaceman 3)
Any shoegaze (Mmmm Sigur Ros)
Jesus and Mary Chain

Really, anything that is dense, layer and thick as lead...

hands down, my number one stoner tune is.............

maggot brain - funkadelic

the first time i heard it, i was taking a nap w/ the radio playing, and the tune came on. i started waking up in the middle of it, it is about 10 minutes long, and i think the song itself stoned me out. oddly enough, i have never heard it while stoned. i have cranked it up and laid on the floor in my living room, vegged out, on numerous occasions.

old black sabbath is not too shabby in the altered state, either.

I was coming onto this board to find out who did the acoustic version of "Baby one more time" and could not resist dropping in on this thread.
I may have stopped smokin' (Oh OK, I've stopped buying!) but I remember what songs jumped out at me when I was altitudinally enhanced. Most of what stood out was older as I stopped noticing songs about pot when they stopped being tabu.
As for what to listen to when high, any good music is great for a buzz and quite a bit of bad music too!
As for songs about pot, here are a few classics you may not know of;

I Got Stoned and I Missed It - Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show
Don't Bogart Me - Fraternity of Man (on Easy Riders soundtrack)
Henry - New Riders of the Purple Sage (My Favorite! about a truck driver who makes a weed run to Mexico for all the hippies back home!)

Those are a few off the top of my head. Check 'em out if you can. They're a lot of fun!

And thanks Slow Dog! It's good of you to remind everybody that we are talking about something that's against the law. Just because the cops don't usually bother the common stoner, it's still utter bulls**t that they have that option if they feel like it!
Click the link and raise some hell! It's the Rock-n-Roll way!

I can't believe no one's mentioned the KRS-ONE song, "I'm a blunt getting smoked and I can't wake up". That song is wonderful, hearing him talk about dreaming about being a blunt.

Everlast took a pull and passed me to Cypress Hill
Cypress Hill took a pull, lungs are full
Who's next? I'm bein passed to Das EFX
As they took a mad pull, smoke blows in heaps
It's really smoky but I can still see Black Sheep
Whoa! Black Sheep gets me, relights me
Room is proper, now I'm passed off to Shabba
Shabba's voice gets low like a tuba
He said, "Me no folllow no rumor" and passed me to Grand Puba
I wasn't burnin right so Puba got mad at me
And said, "Who rolled this?" and passed it to Kid Capri
Kid Capri said, "I won't front!
Pass it to Redman, he knows how to roll a blunt"
Redman said, "No need to re-roll"
He hit, relit it, and passed me to De La Soul
De La Soul took a hit and kept hittin
Now they're buggin cause they passed me to Bill Clinton
Bill Clinton said, "I'll smoke but I won't inhale
I'll only hit it twice," he got slapped by Greg Nice
Now I fell on the floor, Greg Nice picked me up
I'm bein smoked and I can't wake up
Everlast took a pull and passed me to Cypress Hill

I would also reccommend sigur Ros, Pink Floyd - Animals (or any actually) and Flaming lips - Soft Bulletin (like someone else said, really loud!!!!)

The one that seems trippiest to me is "Tomorrow Never Knows" (by the Beatles.)

In addition, I'll second that Monkees "Head" album (but you should see the movie first) and add two of their others, "Headquarters" and especially "Pisces Aquarious Capricorn & Jones, Ltd." But of course, nothing beats Pink Floyd and the Beatles. That stuff was made for that stuff.

I used to make whole tapes that were good to listen to stoned, but then I was stoned all the time anyway.

A couple that stand out:
Desert Kisses - Siouxsie and the Banshees
Butthole Surfers - 1st song on Hairway to Steven (or just about anything from their first few albums)
Skinny Puppy - Love
...ah now I'm drawing a blank, don't know why I wouldn't be able to remember any, hmmmm...

Didn' touch the stuff until I was 27 and now I love it, but rarely partake these days.

"Aquarius" by Boards Of Canada (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=ADFEAEE47B17DD49A57020C79D2F41D0A27CEA29D64C EE831F29461BDFBA3C54840979EF48FE8792FDFB75AB7BAAE0 2CA45A0B9FCBEC5CFDD86C393A9D8EDB&sql=10:nu3m967ogep1)

The song has nothing to do with pot, but it's just cool to listen to when altered.
