Iran asks the world to nuclear party
By Safa Haeri

VIENNA - As it becomes increasingly cornered over its nuclear program, Iran has come out fighting, issuing an open invitation to countries to participate in the construction of its nuclear-powered plants.

"Not only do we invite you, we also welcome whole-heartedly countries to invest in our nuclear program for civilian purposes," Mohammad Hossein Mousavian, the secretary of the political department of Iran's Supreme Council on National Security (SCNS), told Asia Times Online.

Mousavian, the right-hand man of Hasan Rohani, the powerful secretary of the SCNS and Iran's top nuclear negotiator with both the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the European Union's so-called Big 3 (Germany, France and the United Kingdom), described the offer as "an exceptional and historical occasion" that is open to France and Germany in particular, as well as Britain and the United States if they wish to invest in Iran.

Iran has a stated aim of having 7,000 megawatts of nuclear power online by 2020, accounting for 10% of the country's power-generation capacity at that point. To achieve this, it plans to build at least six more plants besides the one under construction in the port of Bushehr, on the Persian Gulf, with assistance from Russia. This plant will consist of a 1,000MW pressurized-light-water reactor and is scheduled to go online in 2005.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, Iran is so great, asking everyone to HELP them with nuclear power, they aren't even being secretive anymore, they want everyone to make money off it too. I'm totally gonna invest in this, it's gonna be sweet.

"Not only do we invite you, we also welcome whole-heartedly countries to invest in our nuclear program for civilian purposes,"

"...Because our nuclear program for military purposes is already being funded. Of course, if you want to invest in that, you can do that, too."

I think we should support any private investment in Nuclear power in Iran as long as:

1. 51% of the investment in a specific plant is Israeli

2. IDF provides all security.

heh. Nice thought, doubt they'd go for it.

Besides, the US but especially Bush are digging themselves a huge hole by favoring Israel so much already.

I wasn't really disagreeing so much as saying (in my usual half ass way) which faction of the United States is supporting it? I don't think it would be part of the official policy of the US as set by Congress or the Executive branch (my "we"), but there might be some CIA (also known as "Them") crap going on to give us a reason to invade.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I post here and I think "WTF, I'm too tired to defend it and I'm not even that sure of my position anyway."

Duemellon should be a trial lawyer. He never quits no matter how untenable his position becomes. No such thing as a doppler effect? Man, you're killing me!

What you described over in the time and stuff thread, photons changing velocity and not frequency when they bounce off a moving object, is NOT the doppler effect. It's the Duemellon Effect.
