Bush wins business money race: President Bush has maintained the traditional Republican edge in fundraising among eight business groups, and Democratic candidate John Kerry leads among two, a private study found.
The non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics said its analysis of campaign-finance reports shows that Bush's biggest business take, $29.5 million, was from the financial services sector. Those interests gave Bush three times as much as they gave Kerry.
The business groups that donated more to Kerry were the lawyers and lobbyists sector, which gave Kerry $16.3 million to Bush's $11.5 million, and the communications and electronics sector, which gave Kerry $6.1 million and Bush $4.6 million. The second group includes phone and computer companies as well as Hollywood movie studios.
